Make sure punch control is completely off and only around 10-20% drag brake. set voltage cutoff to no cutoff and start power to high, should run nice and smooth and very quick :)

out of interest, what motor is it? i have the 5700 combo and a spare ESC.

andy_n 21-01-2008 07:56 PM

its the 6900
very quick an approximation id say its doing about 40 mph real speed
i dunno what my gearings like
im running 87 spur 19t i think pinion thats in my b4 does that sound owt near
i need to slow it down lol
ill be running it in a tiny church hall thing ideally a good 27t so ye really slow

josh_smaxx 21-01-2008 08:15 PM

I cant think of how to turn it down through the speedo, i can only think of using end points on a transmitter :eh?: sorry.

andy_n 21-01-2008 08:37 PM

yes iv just done that on my remote now that will probably be easier hehe
iv got it set at 60 out of 150 so
all it does really it lower the puch rate i think makes it abit more useable

Ye, also turn your throttle curve right down if you can, if not do it on the software.

andy_n 21-01-2008 08:53 PM

ye i tried turning it down on the software but it just makes it rerally smooth then gives it full right near the end so ill jsut use it this way lol
seems smooth enough

have you read Castles own tunig advice?

http://www.castlecreations.com/suppo...ing_guide.html

they reccommend turningn the timing down & maybe even play with the voltage cutoff settings ;)

putting a negative curve on the throttle seems the best idea though
just be careful of that last little pull on the trigger :D

andy_n 21-01-2008 09:24 PM

ye had a read of that how small pinion can you get on the b4 with the 87 spur on ?

You could also try using 5 cells instead of six, this is what i am looking to try and do with a 7700 to make it more manageable. Not sure if you will be able to get down to a 27T equivalent though. Also this will take off about 75g. Might have to rejig the batteries for weight balance though.

As the guys have already mentioned, reduction in the timing should help, also if you put negative curve on the throttle you can take the final max off on the remote.

Guess it is a case of trying a mix of all the above until you are satisfied. Would be interested to hear what you evetually settle with though

there has also been a new firmware release from Castle 2 days ago

http://www.castlecreations.com/downl...mamba_max.html

maybe of use to you? :)

andy_n 23-01-2008 07:54 PM

ye htats the one i got i only dpwnloaded the software last night

right then i sorted the punch out by adjusting sumat on my acoms 2.4 set
only other question is should it get warm when its under normal use it seems to get to like a certain temperature and just stay there weather its getting ragged or just tootling about ?
i wouldnt say it was seriously hot but its not just warm ?
its the esc only the motor and batteries are fine

Well I use the basic setting, and it works perfect for 2wd and 4wd.

You should try the recomended ratios first before going up, and its trial and error. Me I am running a ratio of roughly 10 to 1 on a 4.5 t brushless and it gets warm but not too warm, so i can gear up, and I have used a brushed and it didnt get warm at all on a ratio of 9 to one.

Heat wise they have told me directly that they get warm at 150 degrees centigrade and that doesnt effect the performance a bit, and they say it can get hotter but if you want to you can do what I have done and bought a Novak fan and bolted it onto the esc, or buy a bigger heat sink.

The standard setting is the one I use on the esc at the mo
