Spring chart - all brand

Hi everyone,

I'm currently building a spring chart with all brand for Electric On-Road and Off-Road and I need some final/additional information to publish the document

Right now, I have the following:

- Academy – Buggy
- Associated – Pan Car 12th & 10th, Touring Car, Buggy & Truck
- CRC – Pan Car 12th
- Corally – Touring Car
- Hara – Touring Car
- HB – Buggy
- HPI – Touring Car, Pro4 (different from others HPI TC spring), R40 and Proceed
- Kyosho – Buggy
- Laje – Pan Car 12th
- Losi – Touring Car, Buggy
- Rayspeed – Touring Car
- Schumacher – Touring Car
- Serpent – Touring Car
- Tamiya – Touring Car
- Xray – Touring Car
- Yokomo – Touring Car

I need the following to finish:

- Academy – Buggy: dimension
- Corally – Touring Car : dimension et reference
- Corally – Pan Car 12th & 10th: weight / stiffness (lb/in), dimension et reference
- CRC – Pan Car side spring : weight / stiffness (lb/in), dimension
- Kyosho – Touring Car : weight / stiffness (lb/in), teference, dimension
- Rayspeed – Buggy : weight / stiffness (lb/in), reference, dimension
- Schumacher – Buggy (if still available) : weight / stiffness (lb/in), reference, dimension
- Serpent – Touring Car : reference, dimension
- Tamiya – Buggy : weight / stiffness (lb/in), reference, dimension
- Xray – Touring Car: dimension
- Yokomo – Buggy : weight / stiffness (lb/in), dimension

Could you help me to sort out this list of missing information?

Following previous post, I did for the moment the following document for off-road. I have two other for pan car and TC but maybe less interesting for people here.

There is all brands/manufacturers I know but maybe some are not listed, some data are missing also especially some rates/weights for Tamiya spring just get the color which does help, there is some part numbers too.

The other concern is how to watermark it correctly but will be sorted later.

If you could provide feedback and additional data, that'll be great.

Got them on another document along with all TC springs. I didn't link it previously as there is so much off-roaders here.

TC springs if anyone interested!

Btw, I use none of those two kinds of springs, well only front AE buggy spring (the stock one :eh?:) as I own pan cars so feel free for additional data, comments, advices, things to improve and mistakes ...

In fact, I sent a PM to Roger and he is ok with this idea of chart.

I also see the page summarizing AE, Kyosho, Academy & Losi but don't know to whom I have to credit as it is mentionned "someone did for me".

I cross checked all data I could with others source I found, like website manufacturer, part list, other forums ... The only springs I can't find details are the Tamiya, if at least I could get nbr of coil, wire diameter and spring diameter (from mid wire to mid wire) I will be able to calculate the theorical stiffness.

Here are a couple of spring dimensions for you Arno if you wouldn't mind doing a calculation.

Tamiya Durga Front - Total coils 8.25/Wire diameter 1.1mm/Spring diameter mid coil 14.5mm

Tamiya Durga Rear - Total coils 12/Wire diameter 1.1mm/Spring diameter mid coil 15mm

Would be great to calculate these and compar to the AE springs etc.

I should have the TRF springs shortly and will gladly measure those too.

I don't mind to calculate, that part of my job (when I got one)

In the formula, there is a theorical value so I took the one for steel, depending the used material to realise the spring, this theorical value change. And that still imprecise as there are many sort of steel! Any way, here are the result

Tamiya Durga Front - 3,387 lb/mm or 60,49 gf/mm
Tamiya Durga Rear - 2,103 lb/mm or 37,56 gf/mm

I'll put those data with the rest of the off-road spring

Edit: a bit surprising the front spring get 14.5mm diameter and the rear ones 15mm.

Thanks for working those out! Seem to be in the ballpark of an AE silver rear and between an AE black and green up front. I do feel that the front spring is on the soft side so this makes sense.

Tamiya CVA shocks are bigger diameter on the rear, hence the different spring diameters.

The Durga spring are in the list. The front spring is mid way from AE black to AE green. The rear one is very slightly above AE Silver.

If/when you got more, I'll do the math.

I do bump up this thread as the spring chart are available in a different format, as there is some nice feature on office 2007.

Here are the spring charts for buggy and TC as well as a Shock Piston Chart and Damping Coefficient Table, both where discussed respectively here.

With this new format, you can do your own spring chart with just what you need. You just have to use office 2007, that's not very compatible with other version, shamely. :(

Please provide feedback and comments, especially if that need some improvement and/or correction.

As side note, I spend some time doing those files, making them look good and useful, so please keep the the source visible. Thanks and enjoy those files.

Big Bore-Small Bore Spring Chat

I know I dig but this can be useful, I hope, for many of you.
I did some charts, one for each major manufacturer, with both small bore and big bore springs chart.
Also, there is some words summarizing which P/N you need to use BB springs on SB shocks.
