THE RAIN HAS DONE THIS TO HALIFAX R/C CLUB

jimmy 21-01-2008 02:56 PM

blummin heck, it'll be a dirt buggy track by the time that water subsides! not gonna be a fun clean up :wtf:

johnboy 21-01-2008 03:06 PM

the water has got into the cafe and race control its a mess

ginger fixit 21-01-2008 03:15 PM

many years ago my dads work shop flooded it cos 30 grand to clean up the silt i hope there is insurance to cover it and loads of members to help.

best of luck though let us know how it gos

regards Andy Bell:(

at least you can keep your feet dry on the rostrum whilst racing the boats.... :o

that's quite unbelievable isn't it? Will much equipment be damaged, or will the damage be mainly cosmetic? I guess that you don't leave the PC and timing equipment for example?

DanW 21-01-2008 03:36 PM

Bad news that, and more rain to come over next two days.

I suppose even if the lap timing equipment is ok, if the water has got into the cafe fridge, freezer, cooker etc will all be written off.

Hopefully those pitting booths will survive.

Don't worry there will be a hose pipe ban next week, because its the "Wrong" type of rain! :o

johnboy 21-01-2008 04:16 PM

we wont know whats knackered till the water has gone but its raining heavy again so things could get worse

Chris Harte 21-01-2008 04:26 PM

I hope it was a dirt track not an astro track. If it was astro then all that will be ruined and stained. Oh not to mention it will smell, if it came from a near by river. :o Blooming heck though, how many hours rain is that?

jimmy 21-01-2008 04:30 PM

It's an on road track so I'd guess it would clean up OK, but as for the pitting area and drivers stand etc, they might be a bit worse for wear

sosidge 21-01-2008 04:30 PM

Halifax is a massive on-road track, fingers crossed the water drains away without too much damage caused.

Chris Harte 21-01-2008 04:31 PM

Oh yeh... Having a Durrrhhh moment :p

DanW 21-01-2008 04:36 PM

yeh, at least race surface will survive... and hopefully you can get racing again soon. I'm sure you will find temporary solutions for cafe and race control.

You will soon find out who are the most loyal and dedicated members of your club....

"any volunteers for shoveling s**t?"

twisty 21-01-2008 05:06 PM

It `s Gods way of telling you ,you shouldn`t of banned off roaders. :D

That's better.:D

Only joking, you snoring car drivers are ok really.;)

DanW 21-01-2008 07:07 PM

Why bother cleaning up?

when the waters gone down, mother nature will have left behind a naturally formed rally-X track... might smell a bit though!

losidan 21-01-2008 07:33 PM

makes me wonder if the batley outdoor track is doing it's impression of lake windermere again?

I won the National clubmans class for 2007 in Largescale off road with a budget HPi Baja 5b fella :p no problems with on or off road,
i just love racing both. :)

Colinevan 22-01-2008 09:07 PM

Thats nothing lol. I remember years ago buying a fg touring car that i used to race at halifax.... As you do, left it a season as i had no time to race and went back one sunday just for the crack and there was a do-it-all warehouse built on where the track was lol... At least water dries up lol.

I later found out that they had built the new track a few miles away ( the one you see underwater)

Col :o
