RC10B3
hi guys,
what you all reckon on a B3 to get back into racing then? can they handle the lipo and brushless power?? cheers |
I probably wouldn't buy a B3 unless it was a ridiculously good deal, but if you already have a B3 the there is no reason not to get it out onto the track.
They have a slightly worse slipper clutch design than a B4 and a slightly different diff but they should be able to cope with modern power, but maybe slightly less consistently. There is a B3 that runs at my local and the power doesn't seem to be a problem. Handles pretty well too, although most people would say a B4 is better, and easier to get parts for. |
A lot of people find the b3 easier to drive, set up and the diff is fine. B4 layshaft, slipper plates, pads and 81 spur fit easily so no problem at all handling the power. Im testing an mip to give more droop on the back end and will update next month on whats been done.

Im new to the hobby and have a b3 team with the gear below in my signature
even for my novice skills its super easy to maintain and drive and parts cheap and easy to get from places like liquid rc i did have diff issues initially not knowing how to correctly tension but did a rebuild of couple of times and the thing has been solid and dependable since despite me using only for some nasty gravel, grass and asphalt bashing action! cant recommend it enough some pics attached but looks much better now |
I still race my B3, most powerful motor i've put in it so far was a 3 turn brushless and it handled it fine..
Watch the weight, mine is 200g under legal weight with a shorty lipo :D Need to remake front and rear rear chassis plates out of steel I think. |
I still run a B3. Bullet proof transmission as with the B4. Supply of genuine Associated suspension parts is an issue in the UK so my spares kit came from the USA via ebay. Thunder Tiger are making this car http://www.modelsport.co.uk/thunder-...&ChassisID=691 and so their parts are available in the UK via Modelsport.
