Novak GTS Wiring and general advice.

I was looking at buying a Novak GTS speed control. Do I need to have it wired in a "y" or "t" style or can I use two of the wires fitted with deans for the battery and then direct solder the other two to the motor, but then where would the power capacitor connect (if it comes in the box)?

I would also like to know if there is a connection for an optional fan to go on top like the GTB ESC has?

Could I run it with a 14T Reedy motor or is it pushing the ESC to its limits when the limit is 12T?

Could it handle off-road or is designed for on-road?

I have been searching the internet and I have heard that the braking power is not that good, is this true?

What setup options are there? Does it have different maps or adjustable throttle curves? Are all adjustments made using the transmitter, I have a Futaba 3GR-FS 40Mhz?

Thanks
Chris

why not just buy a gtb instead???

Chris Harte 20-01-2008 07:17 PM

It is out of my price range. I have only got around £90.00 and I want to buy new.

Ok,

have a look at the pictures below. Should answer all you wiring Questions, as they say, A picture is worth a thousand words.

Hope it helps...:)

Yes but thats wiring the GTB, not the GTS.

I would of gone with LRP but its customer support and what is warrantable and what is not. Also if you change the connectors on LRP ESC's then the warranty is instantly void, which is a bummer if your spending so much.

You ever thought that a competition spec speedo like the QC2 doesnt come with connectors? ;)

ashleyb4 20-01-2008 07:42 PM

With the quantum 2 comp its not as they dont come with connectors but you have to go red come on nosram dominator evolution all the way.

Isn't nosram and LRP the same just one is blue and one is red?

ashleyb4 20-01-2008 07:53 PM

Yes lrp speedo's are rebadged nosram speedo's

josh_smaxx 20-01-2008 07:53 PM

Ye, but the red one is usually cheaper and more reliable :p

When I say connectors I mean the wires as well. Different coloured wires to the ones supplied can void the warranty.

ashleyb4 20-01-2008 07:56 PM

There is a lot of nonsense being told about LRP's warranty situation. I sent in a Sphere Competition with all motor and battery wires removed and received a 07 Competition in return brand new no questions asked and no supplementary charge!

As long as you have a proof of purchase you don't even need the warranty card.

Brilliant speedos by the way too. Unless you don't like blue, in which case you can buy Nosram, which is pretty much the same thing in red.

If you want really good customer service try GM-Racing. Ralf Helbing is a bit of a geek and spends most days on the GM-Racing forums answering questions about the products he develops. You don't get much closer to the company than that :)

Buying second hand is no problem either as long as you get the proof of purchase along with the speedo.

True... To be honest I don't like LRP or Nosram when it comes to expensive ESCs.

Its Novak or Tekin all the way for me:rolleyes:

Anyhow back on topic and answer the queries please :D

I can garuntee the answers to nearly all of those questions will be answered on either the novak site or on the internet if you look.

Again like I said, if you had read the first post you would of read that it says "I have searched the internet". I still wasn't sure, so I posted on here.

As for Nosram/LRP problems this is why I don't like them, I too have had bad experiences with ESC's. They are fine when new then it all goes wrong.
