TRF201 weight position
hi guys ,im following CRAIG HARRIS setup http://www.petitrc.com/setup/tamiya/...door201011.pdf
and how should add the 50g weight on the rear half of the lipo? any photos would be great. thanx |
Should you not be concidering Lee Martin set ups??
|
any reason in particular?
|
I cut my under lipo weight in half and slapped the two together directly in the middle of the battery tray. Seems to work best for me!
Also i took the spacers out from the steering arms (wheel end) and seemed to get much tighter steering at low/mid speeds |
got any photos please?
thanx |

LIAM, you butcher!!
The caldicot track is a very small indoor venue so i doubt lee has a setup for that. Mind you, it would be similar to taplow i suppose. Personally i would ask on his tamiya thread for help, Lee will be the best person to help you with the 201 for sure. |
Alright Griff! Being hounded for my shell at the moment!
Set up the car as per manual spec and then make changes to suit you. After all you could set up the car to world class specs but if you aint got world class fingers then It may not help that much. Your car, your fingers, your set up. |
The shell will do the worlds mate:thumbsup: my 511 is going. hahaha
I agree to a degree on your setup theory, but if you have a setup from a top top driver who has been using the car for a couple of seasons, then i am sure he will be able to get the car to do exactly what you want it to do. ie, more steering etc. If not happy with that, use his base setup for the desired track and that will be a way better start point than you or i could come up with. |
just use the stock setup, drive it for a while.
if your not happy, and I'm sure more people seem to want more steering out of the 201, then look up some setup books/info and work from there. The xxx main book is great, and even the xray setup books which you can get online. There are also alot of online setup theories that you can look up. I find it better to do the research yourself, find out what setting does what, what roll centre changes do etc. You will never learn if you just ask for setups. a pros setup, will be exactly that, for a pro. Most people who put on a pros setup later complain that it is undriveable and the weight thing, where to put it. What do you want from the car? More rear traction, move weight to rear. Less monos, move weight forward. More steering, move weight forward for more weight transfer. |
hi ,guys
just following Lee Martin setups, 1 : what difference makes in the car handling having a spacer under the rear suspension mount F or R ? 2: what hole of the two to use in the steering ackerman ? thanx |
use forward hole on the ackerman.
rear antisquat will change the amount of forward and side traction that your car produces. - More angle (more spacers at front) will give you less side bite, but more forward traction and better over bumps. - Less angle (less washers at front and even turning rear block upside down) will give you the opposite - less forward traction, but more side bite. Thanx Lee
I. Am. racing in taplow at moment and looking at ur starting setup and notice that u have no spacers F or R. Is that Wright? Any changes to the final setup? thanx again for ur time Salvo |
