SX3 Belts
Ran my car at keighly regional today for the second time since i got it. After running it at kidderminster last week i noticed all three belts had started to fray. In my final i lost power to the front wheels, after finishing the race as a 2wd car i looked and my centre belt has snapped.
Just wondered if anyone else has had an issue with theres? |
Yeah same issue hear mate ran it in a couple of race meetings and middle belt started fraying. Then today have an awsome meeting with car finished the forth race and belt had basically stretched and snapped. Back belt not looking to healthy either. Also no someone elses that is starting fray after 2nd time out. NOT IMPRESSED!!! apart from that good car.
|
if this keeps happening will they make a stronger belt?
|
Apply some glue on the sidewalls of the belt, apparently (according to Trish) this seems to help a lot.

Hello guys,
I'm new on the forum. It's really nice forum with a lot of good informations. I drive the Cat sx3 last weekend at the german masters qualification and got belt trouble. Which glue you use? A Team driver told me to use less spacer under the belt tensioner. should help also a bit! cheers Lexington |
I use bicycle glue for repairing bike tubes, so I never had troubles with the Cat belts!
|
Thanks a million

I would assume the glue needs to have some give to it, so yeah the bicycle glue seems like a good idea. I will use shoo glue on mine
|
all you have to do is seal the edges of the belts very lightly with super glue, we use a cotton bud but be very careful and apply lightly, we had a belt go but since we did that never had a problem.

mikey as long as the belts not to bad why not seal it, yeh thin super glue and less is better, its only to seal the edges,

if i remember kits was 2.5mm or 3mm anyway i removed the smaller one of the two after first couple of runs, dont over tighten it 2mm should be fine in most cases,
|
Can't believe I am reading this thread, what is the cause of the belt fraying, whats it rubbing on, surely sealing the side of the belt is just a patch fix?
|
Happens on the SX2 as well (though nowhere near as bad by the sounds of it)
Nuclear-RC's glue is fantastic, and should be thin enough to do the job well. Im sure one of the Dave's could sort you out on here with it. |
