B4.1 RTR to C4.1

Thinking about getting myself a 2WD buggy too and was wondering if you would be able to convert a B4.1 RTR to a C4.1 when the conversion kit eventually becomes available?

Your thoughts please.

Yep! That's kinda the point of it

Some of the standard RTR bits might be worth an upgrade...thinking about it...does that have a gear diff?

OH CRAP!!!! :p

The RTR version comes with the gear diff(which apparently is wider),some have asked about this for the X6 but because the housing needs to be wider and its very expensive to "tool up" its a no no.But who knows-maybe Mr CML has something up his sleeve to accomodate this. We`ll have to wait and see............

Paul,

The C4.1 uses the Ball diff from a B4.1, I am sure the gear diff from the RTR will fit

Regarding the X6, that uses a B4 diff not a B4.1, the B4.1 outdrives use metric bearings.

B4.1 "Ball Diff" and B4.1 "Gear Diff" are the same width (so is the SC10), it is just the B4 ball diff (and T4) that are slimmer.....

That is the problem on the X6, we could fit a new diff if it was "narrower" no problem, but now the new one is wider, the design of the rear of the chassis will not allow it to fit.

It will be interesting to see if the C4.1 will accomadate both B4.1 AND existing B4 owners.....

Worst case scenario for this would be that you have to replace the B4 outdrives and outdrive bearings with the B4.1 equivalents.
The opposite of what a B4.1 owner would have to do if converting to an X6?

Hmm, some sort of swapsy system could be set up in that case! :D

On a serious note Paul I have a few of the RTR and they are great value. Try it as standard first... I'm not sure the central motor position will suit your 'wall of death' driving

whats the rrp of the c4.1?
and what does the kit contain..?

peetbee 24-06-2011 08:50 PM

£149.99 from the websites I've seen it on
Not sure what the kit contains though it should be: chassis, shell, rear suspension arm mounts, rear shock tower, battery mounts, wing mounts and gearbox casing.
I suspect CML will include the extra idler gear required, but don't know for sure!

from what i can recall from RHR, neil craggs car used 4.1 diff but paul bradby used a b4, so i assume there is a way around it.

good to see that it is an option if wanting to convert at a later date.

Dudders, someone has to keep race control awake
