where is it worth travelling to??

ok, been into cars since about 11/12yrs (now 38!) looking at getting back into it. i have an rc10b4 team and a schumacher axis, both with some retro electonics (tekin 410k, matched 2400's, futaba 9401 for steering, reedy 12x2 and 14x2) i was struggling to last 4 mins with the axis! i live near oakham in rutland-where is worth travelling to (off road/on road) to race? i'm hoping to go brushless soon, no more brushes/skims-great! what would duration be like with brushless??

so many questions...

Eden Park Raceway is a good track to go to!!!:D
Duration with brushless is much better than brushed, much less resistence means battery power goes further. The 2400's may not be enough, your servo should be ok though. Go brushless and 2.4 if you can, then get a P.T. and this will simplfy your race day.

don't mean to be such a noob, but what's a PT??? edan park looks nice but not what i could call 'local'!!

PT is a Personal Transponder as used with the new AMB digital lap counting gear.
Most clubs still have hand outs though ,so you shouldn`t HAVE to part with the £60-£70 for a PT

Stotfold is a bit closer.... still about 60 miles. See www.stotfoldmcc.co.uk for details

Theres also Coventry which is about 40 miles - http://www.dammit.org.uk/cmcc/index.htm

PT = Personal transponder

Hope that helps!

Living in Rutland the Mid East is your home region. Unfortunatly there are no tracks on your door step but you are located centrally to the clubs in Nottingham and Lincolnshire, with about a 30 minute drive to both.

Have a look at 'Clubs running off road in the Mid East Region' in this sub forum to get details and dates of club meetings within the region.

Also the dates of the regionals will be posted here with in the next week or so. If you've just got back into racing, club meets and regionals is a good place to start. you'll find a friendly helpful bunch of racers at all the clubs in the region, Holbeach, Broxtowe and West Bridgeford.

Broxtowe also as a good on road track.

Worksop indoors is a really good bet, be about an hour from you ish?

Check the photos section for err photos and a few details, next meeting is 27th january..

brilliant, pt...thank you! can see why that would make the day less aggro! i visited stotfold for a look and liked the track but i reckon west bridgford may be the first 'return' race! then again leicester isn't too far away...didn't think to look at coventry to be honest, will check the link. so many but like you said, non on the doorstep.i'd like to race off road again but that seemed to have disappeared, i left the scene on TC's and it seemed to be a bit too 'kit' orientated.(not that anything has changed over the years;)!)

RSharpy 13-01-2008 09:01 PM

Bridgeford would be your closest club and race both off and on road. Think Leicesters just on road?
