ZX-5 Steering slack/delay.. New Servo?

Hi guys,

Advice please.... I ran my buggy recently, doing well, but more experienced membes at the club were amazed at the amount of play in the steering and also the delay from input on the tx wheel to movement at the wheels.

They suggested tightening the servo saver, but also a new servo may be the answer.

I bought the buggy off ebay so have no real idea of it's age/amount of use, it's been modded with carbon bits, so the previous owner was interested in it, not just bashing it about.

Suggestions as to how I should proceed please... I don't mind spending a bit to get it right, but a sensible amount of money!

I have looked at servos and the variation is immense!

if its got a after market carbon top plate check its not binding with the servo saver. the best way to find out if there is a problem just disconnect the servo horn and check all the steering is free if it is then its the servo

Ty Tisher ye sit has a carbon top plate, so i will check that, is it a known problem then?

yea deffo if it is the carbon fibre looking stuff but just disconnect your servo and the steering should be really free if not just keep taking bits of till you find what is tight;)

As for wear my current 4wd and 2wd are upgrades on my original 2007 cars and are using the original steering setups with no issues at all ... Kyosho know how to build reliable and long lasting cars :)

update.... Checked and tightened the servo saver knurled ring... sorted a lot of the problem out. apart from tthe Carbon loooking stuff, the buggy seems stock. so i am assuming the servo is 'as supplied' too.

I have had to replace the motor as that is 'not as per regulations' at my club, shame cos it went really quickly, I will see how it goes with a saturn 20 in it!
