genarator

what size on genarator would be needed to power 2 chargers. charging at 5 amps eash.

any Genny would handle that load,i had a 1kva one and had 8 people on it all charging,

I have the cheapy 650w one, and it does me, 3 kids and the odd extra racer easily, with a 150w lamp to load her up to stop it from gumming up.

so charging at 5 amps cant draw 5 amps for the geny then?

DCM 15-06-2011 07:25 PM

5A isn't a problem, as long as you are using a power supply, as I said, me, 3 kids, thats 20A and it does it easy.

A small one like DCM's can supply 47amps

Use the equation Current = Power / Voltage , eg 650 / 13.8 = 47.1A

you carnt work it out like that as your 650 watts is at 230 volt not 13,8.
so the genny outputs 2.8 amps @ 230 volts, you then need to know how many watts your psu draws at full load when pluged in 230 volts ( most tell you on the case or instructions)

coolcars782 15-06-2011 09:14 PM

Ahh cheers Mark, I though it was 650/230 first, but coming out with 2.8 didnt sound right, but like you said I needed to include the power supply in the calculation
