NEWBIE

Am looking at starting to race off road. Currently running TC. Am using a GM speedo and motor atm, would this be any good for off road?

If not, any suggestions?

Also what turn motors are good to use? 6.5 seems to be quite common?

Any help greatly appreciated

Dave

No reason why GM speedo wouldn't be fine - suggest on conventional mode 2.

cool, so whats a good motor to start with? Been running 10.5 in tc, keep seeing a lot of 6.5 mentioned but what make?

Stick with the 10.5 to start with untill you get a feel for the way it handles. I went straight into 6.5 and spent half my time in the barriers. Once you get a few race days in then go 6.5 trust me you,ll save a lot on wishbones etc

I have just bought a GM120 to use in off road and it's amazing, was outdoors last weekend and some drivers had thermalling issues, the GM never got over 40 deg. (4WD with 6.5)

If you going 4WD 6.5 would be fine, in 2WD may be a little hairy but you could de-tune it a bit on the speedo.

As MattW said use mode 2, but I have tweaked it a bit with the software, to get better brakes etc.
