Help
Ok I need some help, does it matter which way round the cap on a nosram 2007 is fitted? My new 2007 has no +/- or any info on it at all
ello m8 check the lenth of the legs coming out of the cap normally one is longer but for the life of me i cant remember weather longer or shorter is pos. i will have a hunt about and get back to you.............. after a quick search shorter leg or a line/arrow on side of the cap denotes the negative leg on a cap as shown on this little link http://www.wjoe.com/capacitorinfo.htm
Thanks mate but the legs are the same lenth & there are no markinsgs at all on it!
just looked at mine and there is no markings on that either :S but its already connected. soz m8 cant help you any more than the previous bit
O well, thanks anyway.
are you at worksop tomorrow? |
Mat do you have a volt meter ??
Matt - i know the latest ones just have black heat shrink on them - is there any original underneath? if so this should have the negative markings on it.
The other method would be with a multi meter that has capacitance check. Other than that i have 2 speedos sat here, and this rings true for both of them: Look on the opposite end to the terminals - you have what looks like a "T". The terminal closest to the straight top of the "T" is negative, and the terminal closest to the base of the "T" is positive. I have some more caps somewhere, and would be good to check those, but not 100% sure where they are!!! but that is true for the 2 that i do have to hand. |
The longer leg is positive, for future reference. I guess your on about nosram/lrp power caps? I got one which only has a very small dot of red paint on the heatshrink, easily rubbed off. Sorry i can't be of any help Matt, voltmeter seems your only option.
