502x front wheels
Hi, does anyone else have problems have with the front wheels on their 502/511? Mine keep coming loose and ends up rounding off the hex in the wheel. Saying that, when i use Durango or Assosiated wheels it seems to be fine so is it just Tamiya wheels?
Thanks in advance Dave |
Tamiya did change the wheels to reinforce them but it was a while ago now and any of the new cars will come with the new wheels - but it was a big problem back on the 501X.
I ran JConcepts Rulux wheels on my 501X as they were much much better. |
Dab of threadlock on the threaded part of the axle each time you put a wheel on.....

502 wheels
Cheers guys. Yes Jimmy the Rulux wheels do fit great as do the Durango wheels. The Tamiya wheels just dont seem to be a great fit considering they are meant for that car. Thanks for response.

Davy i've never had any problems with wheels coming off my 502x. I use serrated wheel nuts though so maybe that's helping. Dom hasn't had any problems as far as i know either on his 511.
Scotty.... |
Never had that problem before, recently stripped a hex but that was due to a faulty wheel nut.

Serrated wheel nuts are a must. "Nylock" ones are no good.
Never lost a wheel when using serrated wheel nuts. |

Not actually had a wheel come off yet but just not too sure that it wont happen. As i said, Durango wheels work just fine :)
|
serrated wheel nuts as Frederick says, no problems then;)
|
I use normal 4mm locknuts available from any hardware store. Comes in bulks of many and cost nearly nothing. I replace them on a regular basis and have never lost a wheel or stripped wheels.
|
I always use th serrated nuts.
But also ensure you line the wheel up properly first...or you could crush the hex in the plastic and cause a fault. I line them up and slowly screw the nut on, watching the hex all the time to ensure a perfect fit. Lee |
502 wheels
Cheers Lee. I just got the car last week and have only used it twice and I do like what I've seen so far. I can't quite get my head round why I'm having probs with the Tamiya wheels? Will defo try serrated nuts.
Thanks Dave |
Always make sure they are tight before a run. I normally always use tamiya wheels, they have no problems over anything else.
