Nice, are you going to race it. Mine works well but i did modify the slipper clutch and now use a B4 slipper so the slipper doesnt burn out.

im struggling to get new wheels for my b3 team so id love to steal some from you!

adey 31-05-2011 08:46 PM

i do race it and have many new sets of wheels and tyres. I had help and advice from craig drescher regarding turning it into a b3x. Mine had hand made diff outdrives which are longer so the driveshafts dont pop out and a different layshaft made by paul worsley and a different clutch.

I still race my B2 and there are a couple of options for the rims ;).

You can get the Duratrax Nitro Evader BX rear rims for the rear and the Evader BX front rims for the front.

Or you can get the full set of rims for the Thunder Tiger Phoenix that actually is a B3 ;):

yes good call i remember reading that the TTP was based on the same platform. just one thing; do the rears have the cross hatch insets for the pin to locate into. also it looks like the fronts have the rebate / recess for bearings right? are they available in neon yellow?

_sleigh_ 01-06-2011 08:32 PM

Loved my B3, it was the bollox! Might have to raid the parents loft and see if it's still hidden away in there somewhere.

Welshy40 01-06-2011 09:33 PM

I preferred the B2 with B3 front wishbones, still any more pics of the B3x ?

adey 01-06-2011 11:34 PM

craig drescher sent me some pics of his b3x which i shall put up.

I'm quite sure that the TTP rims came out from the same moulds of the Associated ones .... the rears got the cross hatch insets and the fronts got the recess for bearings  .
Unfortunately I think that are available only in white.

what were the differences to the standard b3, i can see in the pics the towers are different shape, how much did the geometry differ??

91notch5.0 04-06-2011 04:36 AM

seriously guys, what is a b3x????? i see a carbon rear tower and front brace but i have NEVER heard of a b3x!

Bugle 04-06-2011 06:05 AM

Thanks for the pics! There were some pics on the internet many years ago but I never saved them and they disappeared.

B3X was a prototype, which seems to be a test bed for B4 front geometry. You can see the front arms poking straight out rather than sweeping back and I assume they used angled steering bellcranks like the B4..

thanks ema - i ordered them from liquid rc based on your advice

i did however read on rc10 talk that the offsets for the front are different as the original b3 team and factory team wheels are narrower

ill compare when i get them as i have 2 original sets in neon yellow
