Sloppy FS2 steering

There seems to be a lot of play/slop in my FS2 steering rack. Looks like a poor fit between the bearing and the alloy "sleeve" it fits into (servo saver side)...

Anybody else have or had this problem?

Toby, my guess without seeing the car is that you have the top hat for the servo saver spring upside down. I've seen many people do this and it is the one place the otherwise excellent instructions could be improved.

It looks for all the world like it's meant to be the way up most people mount it but a quick measurement of the 2 relevent bores shows otherwise.

Hope that helps

Cheers Roger. Will check it out...

Looks like a Top hat and matches the pictures in the instructions

I can see the assembly wobbling around the bearing when I apply steering lock by hand. I'm going to see if I can remove the slop with PTFE tape or perhaps some threadlock in the gap... (saw these suggested on a Durango thread somewhere).

Ok, are you at Hinkley on Sunday, I will have a look for you if you are.

Sorry Roger, I can't make it this week. Will let you know how my slop-reduction exercise fares...!

Some red threadlock around the outside of the bearing (was careful not to get any into the moving parts ;)) seems to have taken most of the slop out. I've adjusted a few other linkages and it seems much better.

How long it will last is another question though...
