B44.1 spur gear
 

Do anybody else have problems with stock spur gears? Ive only been on mine bout hour , and already the teeth are wearing down, is this a common problem?

you probably have it to loose but i use RW spurs as AE spurs can be drilled of center and can go tight or loose

Kit spurs are rarely truely straight and concentric, so they will see some slight wear on them as they run in.

But proper/careful meshing will prevent them wearing dangerously and shouldn't give you any real problems.

As already mentioned the RW ones are much better, machined, rather than moulded so always concentric and smooooth!

You do get the odd one that's slightly out of true, I've used standard AE spur gears forever and can't say I've had any issues.

They all wear/get noisy after a while, the pinion you use makes a difference - some don't have the correct tooth profile.

Can anyone recommend a good combination of spur and pinion mesh?

I also got problems with the b44.1 spur getting damaged to quick.
I had the b44 last year, and didnt have the same problem.

Found a good reason for this:

As you can see, the new b44.1 chassi has a closed spur-"track"
On the b44 chassis it's open.

On my b44.1 i've already broken 4-5 spurs when small rocks etc has gotten stuck between the spur and the chassis.

I'm going to dremel the chassis, so it's open. The undertray wil keep rocks out, and flex if rocks passes through..
