Lost faith in my 201
 

Hi,

I seem to lost faith in my 201 and i'm thinking of following the trend and getting a mid motor car. Does anyone else feel the same way?

Not now the outside season is here, my B4.1 is dialed :woot::woot:

Going to give the mid motors a season, c4.1, Losi 22, Vega and see where they all are.

If there still in the game, I'll get one.

yeah sold my 201 and am back running my old(very) b4 till the c4.1 comes along(eventualy).have to say the 201 was a good car but parts where a pain to get.

get a vega 201 conversion it's mint:thumbsup:

get a conversion for it. so then you can have both, out doors go rear, indoors go mid.

What has caused the loss of faith in the 201, id like to know peoples veiws, ive been pleased with mine so far, but ive only used it three times in anger.

Really liking mine thus far. It is very strong, easy to drive and I love the shocks.
Only downside for me is availability of certain parts (nose piece and rear shock tower support). Exit steering could be better, but a perfect slipper setting and a bit less droop up front solves this.

I like my 201 very much. It has a total runtime of about 8 hours now and as i have found a perfect setup with the help of some pros i begin to liek 2WD more then 4WD :woot:
I must admit that getting the right setup for this car is not easy but once you´ve found it the car handles great! I will surely keep my 201!

Gotta agree with Muratti, now I've got a perfect setup I'm very happy with my 201. Running it since release and very competitive, even now against all the mid motor cars at our club. One day I'll maybe convert or get a mid but untill then very happy with Trf201.

I got the faith back, I adjusted the setup and the car was so much better, almost managed a clean run (which is unheard of for me), crashing twice in my last lap.

Would you be willing to share your setup so we can all enjoy some mid motor slaying?

When running indoor on carpet, depending on how grippy it is I tend to run between Lees Ardent set up and his Taplow set up. When running outdoor I play with wing sizes and shock positions and shock oils.I always start with 0.5 degrees hubs on the back also but like Lee if I need more rear end I fit the 1 degree hubs.I'm sorry I'm being a little vague, just not long finished nightshift, but I'll post my full set up when I rise lol. If you manage to get hold of RC Car Racer/ Jan 2011, there's a great piece on Lee and his TRF cars which I found to be invaluable. Keep the Faith....

I have the upgraded hubs but 0 degrees, but ive fitted the the 3 degree rear suspension mounting and i find i have huge grip at the rear. But i think too much when used on carpet.

Id be interested in the mag with all set up info too.

If you have an Iphone, go into the App store and download the Racer App. This lets you download back issues. It's pretty neat to be fair. Lee explains in the article what he does to achieve certain things on both his TRF Chassis.

just going through the article now.

I didnt know about the 201x bumpsteer issue.

I gather with bumpsteer, you want to have zero bumpsteer(no toe in/out) when front suspension is compressed.

would someone be able to quickly explain the standard bumpsteer with the 201x standard setup, and what it does to the car in terms of handling?

and I thought lee was using ghea pistons, according to the article he is using standard pistons.

You have to put a 3mm washer under the spindle ball stud, which just looks odd. So I dremeled around 1mm off the steering rack (is about 5mm thick, so even 4mm will be more than strong enough) and placed a 2mm washer on the spindle. Now I have zero bump steer.
Make sure the steering link is parallel with the wishbone :)

Bump steer causes inpredictable steering as the wheels steer during suspension compression. And since a buggy now and then faces some suspension compression, (a lot of) bump steer is a no-go.
