Am I mad for thinking of going back to my B4 from my 22??

Im seriously thinking about going back to the B4 from the 22 for Talywain, thoughts?

If its what you feel comfortable with and can drive it well, I say go for it

I've gone back to my X6. I found the 22 to be unforgiving and hard to work on in mid motor, much more forgiving in rear motor though. Just cant seem to gel with it.

ive got a 22 but have raced my b4 at the batley regional and will be racing b4 at south lakes,it is a well built car but i cant get on with it.

The question is ... Which one do you feel more confident with?

Chances are, If the thought entered your head in the first place, Then you have already made your decision. :)

PaulUpton 20-05-2011 11:22 AM

The 22 is a extremely quick car and can turn in the laptimes to prove this.

It is a very on the edge car to drive, needs full attention to get it around quick and consistent

Think the reward would be greater with getting the 22 round.

wacattack 20-05-2011 11:40 AM

The problem I've found is it lacks forward drive and wants to rotate at any given opportunity, even in a straight line. When you first drive it you get the impression there is a good car locked away inside and all it would take is some fine tuning with the setup and the beast would be unleashed. However no matter what I've tried the same problem prevails.

That's what I thought, however just cant find a way to get it there.

I'm going to say stick with the 22
and it has nothing to do with me wanting to see if you'd sorted the lack of left turning thing that we both had at the regional last week sunday

The 22 is a good car. yeah it may not seem that way now, but its new from the ground up, its going to take time and fiddling to get it right.
The B4's been out for ages and has tons of hop ups and spares and everyman and his dog has a setup for it. its not like that with the 22 yet. which is what makes it more fun. trying new things and getting it to work the way you want

I'd be happy if I could just get it to go left all the way.
everything else for me seems to be fine. think i've just got my shocks sorted to what feels comfortable. 6 hole 56's up front are the dogs dangly's

nobby 20-05-2011 12:54 PM

do it wayne you know you always drove the b4 well so just stick with it.
then again i beat you at the first n/e regional so stick with the 22:lol:

this is what i found,i changed it quite a bit but then found it looked like i couldnt drive slow corners without it swopping ends in the middle, for me the setup didnt suit my driving, the only way around it was bold front tires and brand new rear, not the answer,i raced at a reginal last sunday and was ready to ditch it,i had nothing to loose so i changed my setup alot and can now run brand new cut staggers front and the new dboots, its so easy to drive and doesnt need to be driven hard to get good times and its very consistant,i managed a 16th in the last round after running in the 40s

I could jump on that bandwagon Chris , only joking Wayne... you did take a corner off the car though didn't you?

I'd go back to the B4 for a national, it's too far to go to try new stuff on the 22.

PaulUpton 20-05-2011 02:16 PM

Before going back to the B4 if youd like try my setup. The car has good amounts of grip, awesome direction change and forward traction.

I've had numerous people say its the best 22 they have seen running

Just PM me should should anyone want it

Paul

Just because it's new doesn't automatically mean it's better :)

There must be an error in the instructions for the 22, you managed to screw the gearbox in the wrong way round on yours :p

AfroP 20-05-2011 03:51 PM

at the end of the day mate, you need to drive what feels right for you and what you comfortable with. maybe for nationals stick with B4 as you know you can get the results. and then for club races go with 22 until your happier with it

PaulUpton 20-05-2011 04:08 PM

after 4 years of my B4 changed to a 22 and like it so far, yer ok it's had a few things to sort out, is it as good as my B4? well prob not yet as I have only driven it for about 6 meetings, set up still needs to be sorted here and there, but it's not realy fair to say it's not as good as my B4....I gave the B4 four years it was sweeeeeeet:wub, but fancied a change and I think my 22 will be just as good in time

Oh yer I do run the motor in the right place......out the back:thumbsup:

Edit. this said I did run a cougar for 2 months over the winter, that was as long as I could stand the god awfull thing, so yes I agree, the are times when you soon know a car is just not for you

mark christopher 20-05-2011 05:20 PM

have you not tried running your kids car? or get the fastrax conversion for your b4?

Mark
