Mad Rat 28t diff gear
 

is there a stronger version or a compatible product for the diff gear as my 6.5t brushless motor stripped it clean

28t is the idler gear and not a diff gear.

are there any stronger ones

Ive been racing mine for nearly 2 years ...never stripped an idler

The E Firestorm idler fits, although i've never stripped any gear to date.

The Losi XXX fits it's made of hard nylon so less chance of melting, you will need to ream a little out of the centre to fit the metric bearing though.

I strpped mine a couple of weeks ago as my slipper was too tight.

The RB5 idler is slightly smaller than the Rat / monkey one but the diff looks the same, not mic'd it up yet though.

wat brand of grease do you use on the gears.

Me I use the 3 racing greace for the diff and this a very good one and good price.

I use a product called Gorilla snawt on all my metal transmissions, but I don't use it in the diff'.
It doesn't fly off at high rpm like the Silicon and Lithium stuff.
It also contains Teflon iirc.

My buddy had a team c alloy idler explode! Dont waste your money.
I may try the losi one thanks for the tip.
We run the gears dry, never had a problem with the stock black gears.

i think that was the old aloy gear with holes in it to make it lower in weight.
the new idler is full and doesnt break. they make some noise tho. :mad:

My Team C alloy idlers were made wrong - the bearing holes are too big so the bearings slop around and the mesh is so bad they aren't useble.

I told Team C about the fault and they said I had some from a bad batch. Something to watch out for if you buy any.

Me I use the stantard gear on all the box. I've just change one, 1 time.
The metal one are for me not interessting, the plastic is better.
I ear we can find some one in delrin, and this is better ... i think.

I`m using alloy idlers gears from Ansmann and its amasing it does make a little noise but doesn`t seem to have any issues, very reliable. I use Schumacher diff grease in the diff and black AE grease in the gearbox 5* .

so would the alloy one be ok cos at the moment i gone through 2 plastic idlers with exactly the same problem and it is starting to really bug me as i dont want to keep on replacing this gear

My Mad Rat is geared at 31/80 and has had many hours of abuse but i've yet to strip any gear.
Is your slipper set properly or is something binding?
Maybe i'm just lucky, but i've not had any issues whatsoever with the stock gears.

Ansmann have updated the idler gears and they are now made of nylon... I think they are being rolled out as gradual change from old to new.

Ive stripped two gears in my X2C, the first was my own fault because the slipper was too tight, the second gear was just due to old age...

You dont need to run any grease in the mesh of the gears, infact id advise against it...
