Starting a Club

Hi
we are a group of like minded lads who would like to start a club etc.
Does anyone have any info on regards to floor covering for indoors?
Cheers
Paul

Hi Paul, I think the perferred carpet is called prematrack GT, but I'm not sure. I do know the chap to talk to is Jim Spencer from the BRCA. He buys loads of it and normally knows if any club is selling any. Might be a way of starting a club with out to much outlay till it gets going.

Am I right in thinking from your oople name this club might be in or near Barrow in Furness? If so I'd be interested if it was on a Wednesday or Thursday night.

Good luck.

Whats the surface you are looking to cover? If its a shiny floored sports hall then carpet is often used. If its the newer style corky stuff then carpet is again used, but only normally on the jumps

Hi again,

Yes we are in Barrow in Furness
We currently bash on a monday night in the Old Alfred Barrow school sports hall.(top Hall) from 630pm onwards.
The floor is a polished basketball court and at the moment we are using off cuts of astro turf and underlay.
We are on facebook just look for Furness Radio car Club.
If we were to get more members then we may look at other nights, we are also able to race outside weather permitting on an old bowling green in the local park.
I will contact BRCA to see if anyone has any to sell as at the moment funds are limited and we only have a core group of 8
Cheers
Paul

Just race on the polished floor as we do!

+1 for polished floor. Its great for racing on. Maybe just get some carpet for the jumps, landing patches really so you dont damage the floor.

What types of tyres?
We have tried it but just keep spinning.
We all have B4's
Cheers for all info

Well FORCC is mainly a 4wd club, and yellow full spikes are the favourite. Although we are looking at other tyres as the Schuey moulds seem to be not so good these days. Not to mention it takes time to bed new tyres in and it's pretty much the only surface to race on where fitting new tyres makes you go slower!!

We have started 2wd recently though but I'm not sure what's popular - perhaps post a question in our section?

We use yellow schumacher mini spike, full spikes or mini pins. You will find that the track is slippy at first, but after a few races the dust will be gone from the racing line and the grip will improve. As hog says worn full spikes are good, I find worn mini spikes work better for me. We are a mainly 2wd club with B4's, Losi's, x6's and cougars.
