Fitting a smaller flywheel
Hi everyone,
I am new so go easy on me. I have an Ansmann Vapor, its my first car, I have the issue that it creeps when its on idle. I have read a few threads on the solutions (clutch shoes, springs, idle screw, tuning etc but still not having a luck. As a solution I am thinking of changing the clutch and through some research I have seen an adjustable clutch and flywheel kit. http://www.jespares.co.uk/nitro-mode...eyword=PSR+3v2 The Flywheel on this is 35mm and my current flywheel is 37mm, so my question to you is what are the issues, if any, if I fit a smaller flywheel? Thanks for your time. |
Its a bit of an over kill for an ansman, but yes you could use it.
If I was you I'd strip the clutch out that you have already got on to find out the problem is in the first place. |
I have stripped the clutch changed the springs and shoes and still no fix.
If there any other things I can try? |
Yes set your end float up on your clutch bell. When you tighten your clutch bolt up with the washer on you should have about 1/2mm gap, thats end float.
Sounds like you are a bit too tight, thats why your buggy creeps forward. |
So just to be clear, the 0.5mm gap should be between the clutch bolt and the flywheel?
Thanks, I'll try this tonight! |
No, when you put the clutch bell on your clutch you will have a bolt that holds the clutch bell on.
|
silly point but how high is your tick over?

Tick over it not high at all, very low in tone and I have done as MALLET suggested and it works perfectly now!
All I now have to do is get the tuning right, it stalls when I accelerate, lots of smoke too. I feel this may be another subject though. Thank you all for your suggestion! |
Mallet will see ya right!!..end of.

You need to start leaning it out a bit at a time until it pulls away smoothly with a nice plume of smoke until hits top rev's. never leave it on top rev's for long as you will seize your engine. |
So an 8th of a turn at a time, clockwise, to lean it out on the LSN for acceration and an 8th clockwise on the HSN for top end revs?
Great advice! |

If you get that it will hesitate when you first open the throttle then richen it back up a quarter as you have gone too lean ok your a master now   |
Mint! I have a weekends worth of fun ahead, wish me luck!

Fingers are crossed.....
