1/10 pan car servo
 

Hi, just recently got a CRC 1/10 pan car what is the best savox servo? Was thinking the SH1257MG?

Think most use a 1/12th size servo, including myself. You need speed more than torque. I use a Hitec 225MG. Hope that helps.

The Futaba is said to be the best but at £60 + it's a little bit pricey for a plastic geared servo, the Savox comes in at just short of £36 and is metal geared internals, the choice is yours but personally I'll stuck with my Savox :thumbsup:

I appreciate this will most probably fall on deaf ears, but if you have a pan car then only consider the Futaba mini servos for top-level performance proven over many years. The Hitec servos will eventually suffer from centering problems, and all the others have given up the ghost long before a Futaba is properly run in.

Having said that, the Savox servo hasn't been around long enough to see how it performs in the long term, so there might yet be one other servo to join the elite. As any survey of any 12th or GT10 National will clearly show, the best choice is the Futaba - with barely a Savox in sight.

It might be expensive, but it will last 20 years without a visit to the service shop, and because they are so good they have a good resale value if you decide to stop racing pan cars. If you want to beat the best, it's a Futaba 9602 or 9650. It's no coincidence that these are the servos heli pilots trust for their tail rotors... HTH :)

Get the Futaba no question. I have had in fact have all three of these. The Savox is ok but it can be a real pain to fit as it has a strange offset and the Hitec is very narrow so also doesnt fit very well.

I ended up getting the 9650 and bought a secondhand non digital Futaba as a spare.

Good point tjf - if you are using Futaba and other HRS-style radio systems, you do need the digital version (9650) as they won't function with the analogue one (9602). Spektrum systems work with either in my experience, the superb Futaba FASST system works with the digital one. HTH :)

Thanks for the info on the positioning of the Savox spindle being non-standard. That's probably a better explanation for why there are almost none in the 12th and GT10 community than any performance concerns!!

If you are feeling flush I cannot recommend the KO PDS 947 / 949 / 951 ICS series of digital servo's highly enough. They are expensive, Fast, good torque, re-center perfectly every time and hold position like nothing else. MADE IN JAPAN.
Next best - Futaba, WERE MADE IN JAPAN, NOW MADE IN TAIWAN
Next best - Everything else ! ! PROBABLY CHINA.

if speed is more important than the torque how about the Airtronics 94819 - Mini Digital FAST BB Servo

Using or have used Spektrum with Sanwa 141, both Futaba's, KO's, Savox and JR's with out an issue :D
