You would need one hell of a rostrum to see all of the track, how about using the international space station and a telescope. Would 2.4g have a range of 340km:lol:. or you could follow it from a helicopter or a hot air balloon:lol:. Or you could get Usain Bolt to run after it around the track.

Not as silly as it sound, I remember a good few years ago, they took a few cars around silverstone circuit and followed them in an Elise or something.

Would be possible...

I'm pretty sure even over 100m (let alone 13miles lol) a RC car is faster than Usain Bolt.

why not just drive from the back of a pickup

you could refuel on the go if you drove the car into a box rolling on the floor so it can't move left or right too much and then just hold the throttle right and fill her up.

You would need alot of marshalls as well, especially if Col was driving it:lol:

MARSHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALL!! lol

it was just some thing me and girlfriend fort it maybe fun to, we fort you could follow in truck/car or even a motorbike, but started thinking, lets do the TT track with set of RC bikes see if can get AVG of 133mph lol

As the Nürburgring Nordschleife is well over 20 km long there is no chance to go round without refuelling or battery change.
On a modern F1 circuit with around 3 km length it should be possible.

RC cars normally get run over by the following real car in such attempts.

nearest thing would be a 5th scale on fuel which can run for 45 mins plus, then it aint exactly the fastest

MRD 28-04-2011 10:14 PM

I've thought about this before and I'd love to try it with my 5th Scale but the problem would be keeping heat in the tyres so it didn't spin out round the bends.

I recon with a good engine and right gearing it should be good for 60 and if you can keep the traction it should be able to keep up a good speed through the bends so it would take about 20 mins.

You'd need bloody good cooling to run at full tilt for 20mins tho and a fuel tank twice the size on a normal one.

I'd also love to do it on a mini moto :woot:, with ear plugs of course.

I'm sure they do a festival at the circuit where they open the cicuit to take round anything you want apart from cars etc!
Seen people take some weird and wonderful contraptions around it!

Cool as it would be to run an RC car ( of any scale ) around a full size track it wouldn't really be any challenge apart from pure long running time and not getting bored as the track is so wide.

I guess it's due to copyright reasons but it's a shame we don't have any scale tracks made of famous circuits, Nurburgring, Brands, Silverstone, Donnington, Le Man circuit. It would be good if there was some where as big or bigger than Moto arena with scale circuits so we could replicate touring cars going around brands or 8th scale circuit endurance at Nurburg...

thats ace

I've never seen that before ! Wow, is there a rostrum ? Does anyone race there ? They should do ! In fact all full size circuits should have that so anyone that can't afford to race full size cars can put an RC one around there track !

mark christopher 29-04-2011 12:15 PM

at 5 meters wide and near 200m area with i would think about 500m track length, and the latest donington track design, could it be a new uk venue? ;)
then it could be a new go kart track!

+1 on that:thumbsup:
would love to have a go at spa! :D

i wonder what duration and speed you could get if you electrified and 1/8 on road and loaded it up with a couple of large 6 cell packs, say 2 8ah packs to give you 16Ah at 22.2 volts, considering an 1/8 off road with 4.5ah 6 cell pack will run for up to half an hour, surely you could get the speed and duration, tyre wear could be a problem though!

I don't know if it was Serpent or Xray but one of the main manufacturers just did that and found the Lipo version MUCH quicker than the nitro one...

Anyway... Back on topic :D

to be honest it should't take that long really to do a lap. maybe bout 15-20mins so you could run something lie that, who needs tires:lol:

and i believe it was Serpent, and it was't even a 2 speed ithe:thumbsup:

MRD 30-04-2011 09:37 AM

Thing you have to remember is all run times go out of the window. On a normal circuit you might be on power half of the time and only on full power for half of that so you will get decent duration, but you give it full beans under full load for the entire run and you'll be supprised just how short a run you'd get ;)
