Transmitter and rechargables
 

hi guys,

i have a futaba 3gr and its costing me an arm and a leg in batteries, so i was just wondering how do i go about making it all rechargeable? any help will be greatly recieved :)

You can either get rechargeable aa batteries or a nimh/lipo pack. Have a look on ebay for transmitter packs.

hi, cheers for the response :) ive ordered some duracell rechargeables off ebay, im pressuming i can charge these through the futaba plug hole in my transmitter using my charger? :)

what you need to do if the battery compartment is the one that takes individual batteries and is not removable is get youself a dremel and cut the battery tray out, taking care not to cut any of the clips that hold the back onto the transmitter,


next get yourself a futaba extension lead like this one

and cut off the smallest end (male) and solder the red and black wires to the points that you remove the original battery compartment leads from,

put yourself a piece of stiff cardboard on top of electrics below the point you have cut out making sure to have the other end of lead you have soldered to board pertruding from behind cardboard,

screw back together and get one of these batteries making sure to choose futaba in the connector box,

this will plug straight into the connector you have soldered to the board,

then get one of these leads

this will plug straight into your charger and into the battery, charge at 500mah if you do buy that battery, it will last longer



or you could just buy a couple of chargers that both come with 4 free batteries, like this one that does 15 minute recharge

ahh brill! :)

ive already brought the aa rechargeables now :/ will they charge through the plug in the side? :) my charger only gives me a ready in amps :( upto 4A :/ what charge would/should i use? :)

with aa cells probably 1/2c ( half the reated capacity of the cells) ie 2ah, 1A charge

There's no need to mod the transmitter. Just put the batteries in it as normal and then use a charging cable in it's charging socket.

My 2100 and 2700mah batteries used to get pretty hot at 1amp charge so I used to use 0.5amp.
