Yikes, broken 4mm carbon fibre!
I managed to land just right to snap this 4mm tower. Probably landed on a bit of concrete. Has this happened to you?

I've managed to crack a 3mm carbon shock tower on my B44 quite near the middle of the tower where the most carbon is!

I might be compeletely wrong, but seem to remember a while back that there was talk around how carbon parts tended to be on the whole more brittle than their stock plastic counterparts? something around a difference in flex between the two?
I've got a whole load of carbon on my slash, and managed to do in a rear body mount/post a while back - switched back to the stock plastic part and fine ever since. |
Ive snapped an X6 sq rear tower and I think thats 4mm. If you actually look at carbon towers there are places where there's nearly no material, especially at the shock mounts.

did you sand and run cyano glue around the edge, really does make things a lot stronger by helpinng to stop delamination. carbon is more brittle as it is stiffer, plastic is softer so less brittle. if you are making your own replacement (which you may be cos that does look like an old bosscat back end) have a look online for some carbon/ kevlar composite sheet, i have used that before and it is much less brittle while still being light and rigid, you still need to seal the edges with cyano though
