2wd or 4wd with same buggy???

I posted this over on rctech but I thought you guys might have a little more interest, at least I hope.

So, how cool would it be to have a buggy that could be converted from 2wd to 4wd in just a few minutes? The greatest R/C invention since oil-filled shocks, or ball difs?

I'm sure I'm not the first person to have the idea but has anyone ever tried it?

Thanks, Tracy

would actually be quite easy with the modern shaft drive cars, wouldnt take to much engineering to have a swappable front end, only need the mounting points and steering link locations to match. the difficulty would be making it handle well as both two and four wheel drive

Cat sx goes quite well with no front drive.

I know a Lazer SP handles for crap if you simply remove the shaft. I tried it a couple of years ago on a carpet offroad track.
In most cases, a swappable front end would most likely be needed.

My Yokomo hotdog went really well on an indoor astroturf track even after the front train lost traction : FWD belt broke. Jumped well too being mid-motered and all :)
