Worksop Indoors/Tyres

Have just notice on the brca's website that tyre's for the indoor finals at worksop are not to be controlled.

Those of us racing at the Schumacher Indoor Masters are using yellow mini pins because its controlled and we have to.

Are there any other tyres on the market that could work at Worksop better than Yellow pins?

Any thoughts or theorys?

Minipins

Not sure about the GRP's but over many years we never found anything better than schumi yellow minipins ! Infact I think :eh?: the yellow minipin tyre was conceived at the worksop meetings.. Any oldy schumacher people may or may not confirm!

We Ran anything when it was a cow shed across the road " now the car park!"

Then when we moved into main building think we started on cut blues then blue minispikes then yellow minispikes. Then the yellow minipins !!

I thought Minipins were an evolution of the microspikes, those ones which had an overhang on the inside edge but not the outer of the rears, and a dobbin profile. They wore like cheese on a grater.

I reckon GRP's are worth a try. I ran GRP's at the HB event and they were a little quicker than Minipins for me on 4wd, and also gripped well when worn. The only other factor is that Worksop will have a few carpeted jumps and the Minipins will grip better for a nicer jump off these...

Worksop Indoor Tyres

Bondy,
You have a fairly good memory, when Worksop started way back then when i was young, We tried allsorts of tyre cominations, Losi Sprints, Proline micoblocks,Schumacher cut spikes [ remember those ] Mini Spikes, Then Mini Pins [ that lasted] [ may be softer motors ] When we were at Scumacher the mini pins were developed fot Astro Turf type tracks.
After all that most soft compound tyres work at Worksop. I now Adam intends trying the GRP in practice next time we are there.

Anyone remember those treaded tyres we used to run in the old shed? they 'howled' :eh?: Think they were american, can't remember the manufacturer or name..

Yellow Minispikes used to work fairly well there, but pins were generally a little faster. It did depend a little on track, sometimes if you had a track with virtually no carpet, then spikes might have been a little easier. Pins were always the tyre on choice though - remember back in the day the winter series was not controlled - and about 98% (rough guess) ran yellow mini pins!

controlled tyres for indoor finals.......

Hello everyone, Just so you all know we are currently working on all the details for the Indoor finals at Worksop, almost complete, ;) but I can confirm to you all as far as I am aware at the minute the tyres will be CONTROLLED Schumacher Yellow mini pin tyres, same as is currently used at the Schumacher Masters at Worksop.
So sorry to those of you that thought you might be able to try lots of different tyres.

Mark

Controlled tyres for worksop indoor

Muzzy
You can not alter the Indoor Finals to a controleed tyre, as this is a BRCA meeting and at all other events there is no controlled tyre.

tyres......

Ok seems that when we first discussed this there was some confusion over the control of tyres, so the OFFICIAL word on this is that there IS NOT a control tyre for the indoor finals, but most people will recognise and be advised that the best tyre to work at this venue on this surface is the Schumacher Yellow mini pin tyre, so you can either use the Recommended tyre or try something yourself, sorry for the confusion.
