TSR Dust Boots

Been testing these...

...for a month now. Ideal is you drive in dusty areas, but I bought them to make sure the pin dosent fly out. Slight pain to install as they have to be installed from the bone end of the shaft which takes a lot of stretching to do. Despite that, they didnt break and I aided the installing by spraying the inside with slicone.

I have no idea why the ball end dust thingies are included, but since I didnt need them, I found another use for them. I've now installed them on the drive shaft so they sit between the inside hub bearing and the CV joint when installed in the car. Makes it even less prone for dirt to enter. We'll see how they hold up to massive rotational forces...

This is not a company PR campaign, I am in no way associated with TSR, just thought it was a good product you lot should try out. Fits nearly all 1/10th drive shafts, regardless of make as the rubber is stretchable.

I've been running these on my B44 for a couple of meetings and they work great . They're either copies of, or actual durango boots but they fit most cars. I'm also running the Durango drive cup boots to stop crud getting to the thrust race ;). I'll be getting a set for my 501 sometime too.

Do you have them mounted on the rears only or on the front drive shafts as well? How do they hold up to the steering?

Jan,

On which end of the driveshaft do you use them? As on the TRF 511 the CV joint is inverted compared to most cars (on the WO driveshafts anyway) so I don't think we can use them there.

I've got them all round and after 3 meetings the fronts are spot on :)

They'll only fit the 501 and 502. They go on the CVD end.

Correct, which is why I use them primarily to make sure the pin stays in if the set screw fails for whatever reason.

I use them front and rear on my 511 and the rear on the 201 and none of them have failed so far.

Cool. These should work similarly well on my DB01R, but not my 201 - those driveshafts are "backwards" - the cup is on the dogbone & the pivot ball end is on the axle. What driveshafts are you using on your 201?

Any pics?
