Ive just got the 501X and im having heating problems.
Im running a 5.5 LRP with 37T diff pully and 18T center pully on a 96T spur with a 15T pinion and its getting mad hot after 5mins, ran it without undertray and its still the same, could do with some help.

ESC or motor is overheating?... and what temperature?

That gearing should not overheat a brushless motor. I have the same drivetrain (18T center pulleys & 37T F&R pulleys) and gearing with an Orion Vortex 6.5. My temps after a 5 minute race stay about 130-140*F (someone else can convert that to Celcuis for me :p)

both, dont no temp, but put it this way, you cant touch the motor and the heatsink/fan is melting off the speedo.

Have you cut the intake and exhaust holes out in the bodyshell over the motor and the other side hump as mentioned else where in the 501X threads, I also cut large vent holes in the lower rear of the shell under the wing and in front of the rear diff; and indoors I dont use the undertray.
Hope this helps

Gary

I have my Orion 5.5 geared at 18/96 at the club with the18/37 pulleys with no problems. It's hot but you can keep your fingures on both the speedo and motor
