I gave a shell to paint to a painter here on Oople. I can't for the life of me remember who it was ! As I said, he is on Oople and has a proper website showing loads of his painted shells.

Could somebody pass me somewebsite links to UK body painters, I'll know it as soon as I see it.

Many thanks.

Rob.

Have a look at this thread
Its where all the painters hang out so you may be able to find him from there

He probably can't remember the quoted price either Graham so...double? triple?

Only joking buddy but you need to stop drinking or something..

Glad you found the holder of your shell and am sure Graham will look after you spot on.

Edit !

telboy 10-04-2011 07:16 PM

Right, well put it this way.

I just painted one wrong for someone. So I kept the shell he gave me and I have ordered a new one for him to replace it, which I will be painting in the right colours.

I mean, when I say wrong, it wasn't wrong, we were testing schemes, I suggested one and he didn't like it. My fault completely so I am replacing the shell that he bought. :)

Simples.;)

Can't say fairer than that.

Did you give Mr Custom Blitz the opportunity to correct the problem before buying the new shell?

DCM 10-04-2011 07:23 PM

Sometimes it is difficult to work out exactly what a customer wants, as they can be vague, so a 'scheme' can be a 'work in progress' over a few shells. If you have been very specific, then that is what the sprayer should do.

These things are maybe best not aired publicly initially though...

To be fair, you could have asked him to replace the shell and send it to you not painted, and you could have told him to sell the painted one you didn't like if he wanted to. You went out and purchased a new shell, even after he offered to replace it for you.

Fair enough the shell was wrong and things were added in that you didn't agree to. I can see your point with this, Just don't think you can complain about being out of pocket for a new shell after he said he would replace it for you...and you said "no just throw it in the bin"

I maybe wrong but that's how I see it :)

And now this post will make no sense what so ever as you have just deleted everything you wrote in your previous essay

sunbeam 10-04-2011 07:50 PM

OK, so it's all my fuilt.

I'll splash out another £25 (forgetting all the money already lost with the painter in paint and shell) and do the thing myself with cans !!!

What a FANTASTIC service !

Besides anything else, I can't see why I should be left with nothing. It's going to cost me at least £50 for a new shell set and painting plus the lost shell and painting I have already paid for (over £50).

The painter walks away with everything, that can't be right?

Is it ?

Well you wouldn't have been left with nothing if you had asked him to purchase a new shell and send it to you UN-PAINTED...

Also if you had given him instructions to sell the bodyshell, then you could have asked to be refunded the money you have paid for the paint work..

He wouldn't have been out of pocket as he would have sold the shell you didn't want, and you wouldn't have been out of pocket as you would have had your money back and a new shell back!

Communication with the painter is key! If you had thought it through properly to get the issue resolved, and not been so quick to say 'throw it away', then maybe this could have been sorted out pretty quick and painless without any need for it to be made public on a forum for both of you.
