charging lipo's
 
is it safe to charge lipo's without balance charging them?
im currently using an ansmann base and dont have the lead to balance charge.

Sure is. I wouldn't want to never balance them, but a couple of times won't hurt.

I've done 100s of cycles on packs without balance charging and the balance hasn't drifted at all. The only time I've seen a pack go out of balance is when the balance lead had a bad connection :rolleyes:.

It's worth checking the balance regularly with a meter or the charger, as it will be the first sign if there's a problem with the pack, but with the packs I've had balance charging hasn't been necessary at all.

If you are hitting the LVC regularly the packs will likely drift out of balance. If you are never hitting the LVC you could probably get away with balance charging every 20 or more cycles.

Never fast charge without balancing.

Balance chargers are cheap nowadays so i would just recomend buying one and balance charge each time for peace of mind.

i have an ansmann base charger which can balance charge, i just dont have the lead to balance charge yet(on order with my lhs),
i just wanted to make sure it was ok to charge them or wait until i got the lead.
