Just spent a fab afternoon painting some shells for a mate, and seriously considering doing this on a full-time basis, having just been made redundant.

didn't quite go according to plan tho. Blasted airbrush kept clogging when trying to do a narrow fade at the edge of the colours. Got a bit uneven...

I'm using an Iwata Eclipse SBS, 0.5mm tip and Faskolor/Createx/Auto Air paint.

Whats the solution? Thinner paint? More Air? Less Air?

You'll need to get some reducer Ju, to me it sounds like the paint is too thick dude....

I read somewhere that Windowlene is good for this but don't blame me if it all turns to sh 1t :D

I don't think windowlene will thin it, yes for cleaning out the airbrush ( or screen wash - doesn't affect any rubber seals ;) ) but you can get 'AutoAir Reducer', that's best. Try it on something before you do your next shell. AutoAir is by it's own nature quite a coarse paint to airbrush with due it's general viscosity.

get some 4011 auto air reducer, its brill and thinn buy 20% or 30% for fine lines, for fades and blends apply in lots of lite coats = 3-4 and start at 20- 25 psi

Used Auto Air reducer before, but not with Faskolor paint. Will give it a try.

Here's this mornings effort. The brief was White/Orange/Blue and that was it!

Had a nightmare with removing the masking - was supplied masked - brush painted with RCS fluid (absolutely fab in itself I must add) - but applied far too thin in places -and consequently pulled up some of the orange paint on the edges when removing the pinstriping for chroming. Tried to fix it and made it worse!

Thank god for stickers!!!

Here's a question for all you pro's. How do you stop fades creeping along creases in a shell (overspray). Is it simply a case of turning the air pressure down and working more slowly, always pointing the airbrush away from the unmasked areas?
