It's early days for the losi so remains to be seen really what it's capable of. The early release cougars had there problems with some people but the 2011 spec has addressed these.
Personally I love my cougar but do like the look of the22.
Cougar upgrades can be frequent and expensive though which is worth considering. +8mm chassis and alloy gearbox top for example.

Get the 22 first it's cheaper, if you don't like it you'll get more of your money back seeing it's only just come out

I run the cougar as said above about parts for it i have them, but you need the short lipo for 22,also has not been out for long. But price of parts for the losi is cheap, but i had an original losi 8 then went to the 2.0 version and to me and a few others felt that the quality of losi was lost.
The price of things may be a little more for the cougar but i feel its a better kit

You dont need the short lipo - you can use saddles if you have them ? Ive got a Cougar but im still going to try the 22 !

Having owned both, id say 22, i had an 'early' cougar and had a few problems with it... Havent ran the 22 yet but i personally think the build quality is better on the losi...

Both good cars, pick whichever you like the most

I've had a cougar, was good. But had a go with a 22 last night (with a wheel and I use sticks) all I can say is wow, so much grip, could almost drive it like a touring car.

i had a cougar and i think they are very nice, very quick but for me very inconsistant,it always felt like it wasnt mine,i ran the losi and it felt like id had it ages:thumbsup:

And those electrical faults on friday made it all the more authentic :woot:

I ran my 22 for the 1st time on friday after a stint with 4wd and found the Losi very easy to get to grips with. My setup still has plenty of room for improvement but you could tell that the car was eagar for some hard driving - and is very strong should something go wrong.

If you run it rear motored you have acres of space for stick packs and then can change your lipos later along with the motor placement. In the 22 of course.

I have also owned both and i agree with the majority the cougar was a good car when working but inconsistant and weak very weak there diffs were also a big problem, also the money i spent on that car was silly with all the upgrades and spares needed i could have bought a vega... or two

i have raced my losi 2 times now and have had no issues the car is very strong and is more fun to drive than any 2wd car i have raced to date
we have darren bloomfield as a regular at our club and have seen first hand what the 22 can do when the setup is good . all i can say is you get alot of car for your cash with the 22 ..

I own a Cougar and have had my share of breakages etc, but with a few minor tweaks its been very reliable and nothing has broken for the past three meetings. (even with some hard landings)

I was considering buying a 22 as well, but having seen them in action I will be sticking with the Cougar.

frogger 31-03-2011 02:28 PM

I've sold my Cougar and got a 22. For some reason just couldn't ever get the Cougar do what I wanted it to do. I absolutely loved my CAT SX2 and will be getting a CAT SX3 but the Cougar was hard work. So for me the 22 is

nicVEGAchildJR 31-03-2011 02:39 PM

the vega b4.1 will be the car to have it go on sale this weekend
