Engine=motor?

Have been looking att some pics of the new twentytwo, it is actually written engine on the bags for the mid motor conversion parts. Am i totally off here or what? I thought it was an electrical motor installed, not an combustionengine....

Shaun 'TheSheep' Atkinson 29-03-2011 10:16 AM

It is electric!

The term 'Engine' doesn't automatically mean it's a combustion engine...

Tjompa 29-03-2011 10:23 AM

Hey!
I know but everyone else talks about mid motor conversions, losi is the first company to talk mid engine conversion on an electrical car, so that was why i was wondering.

Thesheep: so you talk about electric engines? Sounds weird.

Shaun 'TheSheep' Atkinson 29-03-2011 05:29 PM

I don't use the term 'Electric Engines', I call them motors like 90% of the other people do, but some people/Companies do use this term.

You need to put some petrol in it - but only do this once the motor is hot and the Lipo is in

Cock:wub Brushed and brushless are both types of motor - they just work differently

Shaun 'TheSheep' Atkinson 29-03-2011 06:10 PM

Boiled down to the basics.

A brushed motor uses the brush to commutator contact to "turn on/off" a magnetic field at specific points of armature rotation.

A brushless motor detects armature position electronically and "turns on/off" a magnetic field based upon armature position detection.

Haha, believe me putting petrol in your car with a hot motor and Lipo is good advice - ultimate way of dealing with RETARDS :p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p

just chime in

from wikipedia

An engine or motor is a machine designed to convert energy into useful mechanical motion.[1][2]
Motors converting heat energy into motion are usually referred to as engines,[3] which come in many types. A common type is a heat engine such as an internal combustion engine which typically burns a fuel with air and uses the hot gases for generating power. External combustion engines such as steam engines use heat to generate motion via a separate working fluid.
Another common type of motor is the electric motor. This takes electrical energy and generates mechanical motion via varying electromagnetic fields.
Other motors including pneumatic motors that are driven by compressed air, and motors can be driven by elastic energy, such as springs. Some motors are driven by non combustive.

German call combution engines motors and electric motors motors, very confusing.....

Fast Eddie 29-03-2011 06:10 PM

and so it goes on..........

Chris56 29-03-2011 06:13 PM

So does a motor car have a brushed or a brushless motor?

Shaun 'TheSheep' Atkinson 29-03-2011 06:15 PM

Oh come on!

Has this not gone on long enough now! Fair enough some of Pip's earlier threads were a little annoying but he did ask a perfectly sensible question on this thread, and now you are carrying on the childish rants on a thread that a new member started asking a question about TLR's terminology!

Your making yourselves look silly!

I appolagise to the guy that started this thread asking for info, this webiste is not usually like this, there are good guys on here with good advice....

To be fair Shaun, Pip's posts have become less annoying and he is slowly realising that you get more out of people when you are nice to them, but there is still a fine line between having a pop and being damn right rude, and Pip is still being the wrong side of the line.

He has taken some good advice on painting his shell (inc from me) but he still insists on the abusive comments (when somebody suggests painting the inside of a shell), even when most of us have eased off the kid.

I do agree that this has gone on long enough, and that includes you too Pip: Its fine having a banter but stop calling people idiots.

Chris56 29-03-2011 06:37 PM

Whatever mate, my mrs and most of my mates call me an idiot but at least they have taken several years to reach that conclusion!

Shaun 'TheSheep' Atkinson 29-03-2011 06:40 PM

You don't have to leave the thread, you asked a question relevent to the thread title. All I meant is maybe not a good idea to start arguing on this guys thread, it is setting a really negative atmosphere for new members joining oOple.

If you guys want to argue till your blue in the face, use the private messaging option!

Chris56 29-03-2011 06:48 PM

Fair comment dude - things seem to be on a wind down anyway!!

Anyway mate, the TLR 22 is a 2wd electric buggy.

They do a couple of Nitro models: a 1:10 4wd truggy and a 1:8 4wd buggy. Don't know much about these as I don't race Nitro.

I think the 22 could be one of the best selling cars this year:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Hi guys!

Thanks for defending my thread against thoose silly retardos!

I know that the TLR22 is an electric buggy, i was just curious why they call it engine on the plastic bags in the kit, and according to Smokes with the quote from wikipedia i am totally correct in my conclusion.

So by the way, i am from Sweden, that was why i asked about the engine and motor mixup, the gramma is a bit difficult sometimes. Engine means motor in Swedish also, as for the germans.

So the correct word would be on the plasticbags: "mid motor conversion" So losi is wrong and a little guy from Sweden is correct..sound weird but hey i can live with that!

I also guess that this car can be a big seller, the hype is enourmous everywhere!

Ahh the joys of the English language!

Where in Sweden are you from? My parents used to live in Vasteras
