B44 reborn as Fyra-4
 

I wanted to do something different. I know, there is a car called MID44 out there but I wanted to do my own version;)

First of. My own designed shell called Pioneer One.

Weight system without any tape. Choose between 0, 20, 40, 60, 80 or 100 grams of additional weights in the rear.

Easy access. Just remove the the two left over thumb screws in the middle to add or remove 10gram plates.

Motor moved forward by 20mm and lipos by 5mm. Switched sides on the motor because Kyosho and Durango are right;)

Two different rear top plates were made. One stiff and one soft. This is the soft one.

Fore more flex because we like it on loose dirt track like we got up here in the north where its cold.

Comes of as one unit. remove only the two nuts and the whole thing comes of without the need of removing any tray. We like those up here where it is cold and where the tracks are loose..

Just finished it up today and I am preparing for the big race this weekend. Know it will run well.
If it is a success I will have the whole conversion made up in kits with all the parts needed to do this mod. I have a guy that can preform all the milling locally and with great precision. This I had made at my friends place but he does not what to make them in any larger quantities understandably.
The metal parts will be in stainless steel instead of brass. Much easier to manufacture with laser cutting and cheaper. It even looks better than brass. Has got the same weight more or less.

The shells will be starting to be produced after everything with the car is tested.

The big test will be this weekend and the idea with the conversion is to make the car more easy to handle on bumpy loose dirt tracks like the ones we race on. Due to the added flex it will be more forgiving when slippery.
The dream would be to let Paul Bradby try it out on the race but that is only dreaming;)
I know a very gifted team driver for team associated here that will test and say what he thinks of it.

If you have noticed The Durango Dex410 and The Kyosho Lazer FS series have the motor mounted so the motor housing counter rotates towards the centre of the chassis instead to the right edge of the chassis as the original design does.
I asked Durango about this fact and that is why they did it. I am of The same opinion. They also said in the same reply that it is only effektive when during acceleration and not when up to speed. Then it did not matter as much. The rotor and centre shaft cancel each other out but The third factor is the housing itself. Initial acceleration and when the car is in The air it can help. It was possible to do this mod so I did it.
The wheel carry a lot of mass so they are more important balacing the car in the air.
So all in all, that is not The most important mod but I like the Idea that both Kyosho and Durango had so I copied.
The forward motor thing is also to make it more like Lazer or Tamiya 502 or Dex410. I find them to handle bumps better than B44.
I found all my insperation from those three cars.

I think a B-max is on the cards, but the b-max body is awful!

If u don't like the original shell, u have 3 others to choose from!

Ingenious CRC 1:12 stylee battery straps!

Only thing you should beware of is that the batteries can be thrown around quite a bit if there's a hard impact. On the 1:12 the rear damper got bent by the batteries giving it a knock... LiPos are much lighter than NiMH, so not a big problem anymore though...

You are so correct SHY. I nicked many ideas from other cars and among them the CRC. Have owned almost every eletric car out there hehe.

The weight system is all mine though. Invisiable functional lowest possible weights. When the packs are in you cant spot them at all.

Let me know when it's ready for sale, I'd love one of those!
