Night of the Living Numpty - Part II

So second potentially stupid question of the evening...

Been running Orion Carbon 3200 LIPOs for messing about with, about 18 months old iirc. When charging this evening, noticed marks on casing, like a thin white colouring on casing around join in the casing. In much the same place on both packs of cells so assumed it was just rubbing when taken in/out of car but as cells not used that often concerned they are degrading/leaking.

Case looks stable, doesn't flex and white bits not liquid and they charged ok this evening... what does a lipo look like when it goes bad and how on earth do you dispose of them? Local tip has a battery dump, assume I could take them there.

Am going to bed now, in case I burn house down, been one of them weeks.

End of numptiness.

As far as I'm aware if a lipo's leaking it'll catch fire so if there's no fire then there's no leak. They usually expand if there's something amiss but if you do need to dispose of it run it down to flat then leave it in a tub of salt water. This will make it totally dead and it can be disposed of safely.

Sounds like stress marks in the bonding of the case ... probably from having had the cell straps down super tight too often.

Keep an eye on them, charge in a LiPo sack just in case and I expect you'll get some more life out of them yet.

That could be yes, the Lazer does hold them quite snug. I'll give them a good run when I get the new speedo soldered:thumbsup:
