Associated Spur mod

I'm looking at doing the Associated Spur mod to give me some more gearing options
Apart from the spur and slipper pads?
Do I need:
Slipper plates
Slipper spring
Any other parts?

Cheers
Lee

You can use the stock slipper plates. Need -AE gear, AE slipper pads.

Place an axle washer behind the first slipper plate (AE gears are thinners), then everything goes on like normal just using the AE gear and pads. You can go down to a 78 tooth with no modifications. If you want to run lower you have to machine down the slipper plates.

Also, I found if you take an exacto knife and slightly cut down the molding on the gear that holds the plate in place it helps the plate engage it properly.

Re the teflon washer, do you put it next to the slipper plate nearest the motor mount, or do you place it next to the one near the slipper nut?
When you say behind the slipper plate, do you mean right next to the motor mount or in between the plate and spur?
Been desperate to get a bigger pinion on, but I can't go any more than 31/80 as i'm right out of space without reducing my spur.

The washer goes behind the slipper plate against the gearbox. The AE gear is a little thinner so this puts the spacing back. I just use an axle washer, nothing larger.

78 is the smallest that will go on without having to modify the outer diameter of the slipper plates.

I thought the asc spur needs to be drilled to fit the shaft too?

You do have to open the whole slightly. I slowly use a body reamer.
