Diff Issue :(

I'm up to the diff on the 22, I think the M2.5 has stripped. It wasn't even tight and it slipped and now i can't get it tight!

I'll have to get another nut. Its the only nut size i don't have!

Has anyone else had any issues?

Not sure if this helps, but the instructions say it is an M2 nut.

are u sure its not the plastic housing the nut sits in??
mine seems to spinning inside it. but my diff feels fine
but not looking forward to stripping it in the future:(

it should come out if you push on the nut to hold it in place:thumbsup:

Diff nut is M2 in instructions, The 2.5 is for the slipper, The old dog:blush: pointed this out in another thred, saying don't loose it as it's a strange size

RDG 40 19-03-2011 09:23 PM

diff nut is different to the slipper nut

I stripped my diff nut it was my only issue through the build

you need to order tlr 2949 or pack of 4

or if you want to try LOSB6600 for a pack of 10 for same price

Russ

glad someone else did it lol

I thought I'd stripped mine but it was just spinning in the plastic holder. I glued the nut into the holder and it seems okay, I'll run it tomorrow.

It's defo the nut. I can see it turning inside.

What size nut is it? M2?

RDG 40 20-03-2011 11:54 AM

m2 x 0.4 x 4mm

what I did was glue the nut it then it stops it spinning in the cup, works a treat

Do yourself a real favour and get an associated diff nut and matching screw and you'll never have trouble again with it.

Get ceramic diff and thrust balls in there as well while you're at it. The kit ones are made of cheese.

Just changed my bag of spanners for a set of Answer RC ceramic balls and a Tamiya nut (off an m-chassis of all cars!!), still got the kit thrust bearings but sounds and feels so much smoother.

I have just done the same! the car seems more responsive! and alot quicker it must have been slipping quite bad!

I suppose it must be a vicious circle: diff loosens, starts to slip, balls wear, balls become less spherical so don't roll, diff slips some more .....
