Why is my combi boiler causing the electrics to switch off ?

Worcester Bosch 350 combi has caused the electrics in the house to switch off. So we have had to unplug it. What would cause it to do that ?

Sounds like interference. Switch to 2.4gHz.

Most likely either the fan or pump is faulty and drawing too much current. When the faulty item turns on it trips the power. Have to do some diagnostics to deicide where the fault is.

I had a similar problem but could not find the fault. Called out British gas in the end, and they could not diagnose it either. They must have visited half a dozen times, replacing almost all the parts of the boiler. It turned out that the insulation on the fan wire was damaged so it was arcing on the case.

pump seems to be worth while checking

I hold an HNC in electronic engineering, but am a bit rusty. This problem however is pretty basic; It sounds very much like a leak to earth which is tripping your rcd (circuit breaker ). This could be caused by broken insulation as indicated above. Either way, there is a residual current to earth, or maybe even an high current leak. You'd need at least a multimeter to do simple fault finding.
Keep it switched off and seek professional help buddy.
