you love the daves! how many run at you'll local club? and is oval better then circuit?

A 'Dave prolly wouldn't be my first choice(ex-Kyosho 1/10th off roader),but for all round fun,cheapo spares and a reasonable level of tweakability,they're pretty good.

well with circuit racing you dont turn left turn left turn left so i would say circuit racing wins for me but all to there own

We have about 7 race at our circuit club

I would love my club to race Mardaves... circuit though, now they got ball diff's and such modern tech!!

usually 12+ at Neston every Tuesday, circuit with carpet and varying tracks.

Sometimes 3 or 4 corners and a LONG sweeping bend (the brushless get up to silly speeds on these) and then can have a technical track with multiple corners and apex's that mean you either get it right or dont!

I am still practicing as only started racing last sept, but generally getting used to the car, and now finding the sweet spot a lot easier with the setup.

Not as cheap as people say IMO (to get the initial setup) but cheap running costs, probably spent about £30 in bits since september all in, 2 sets of tyres, and odds and sods :thumbsup:

We solely race mardaves at our club (Southampton Mardave r/c car club) & we alternate the races between oval & circuit.

We're currently running a points championship for both types.

For oval, only brushed g2 motors & Nimh's are allowed (regardless of what formula you race) but for circuit racing we allow brushless & lipo.

Some people race the same car for both types of races, where as i'm fortunate enough to have specific cars set up for each.

I favor the caterham for circuit racing. Mine's running a brushless Mtroniks/Mardave motor & esc combo & I use dp racing powerboy cells.

For oval, i run a 4 slot brushed Mardave g2 motor, a Speedmaster V60 esc & also use the DP racing cells.

I enjoy the oval more due to the closeness of the racing & the fact i prefer the mechanical feel of a brushed motor but I love the speed & ease of adjustment & tuning the brushless set up allows.

The strange thing is, I use a wheel type transmitter for oval racing (an Acoms Technisport 2.4ghz), yet I much prefer using sticks for circuit racing (my lovely 40mhz Futaba 3VC!).

How come you race a Caterham for Circuit? is it because it has a slightly shorter wheelbase?

theyre so much fun to drive
and so small
and behave like a puppy:lol:
they change direction so quickly you can flick them around the corners

not neccessary the fastest cars but nice to drive in comparism to the oval stuff
