AE RC-10 "TEAM" car
HI!... The TEAM car :
http://i361.photobucket.com/albums/o...th_rc10037.jpg http://i361.photobucket.com/albums/o...th_rc10038.jpg http://i361.photobucket.com/albums/o...th_rc10039.jpg http://i361.photobucket.com/albums/o...th_rc10040.jpg http://i361.photobucket.com/albums/o...th_rc10041.jpg http://i361.photobucket.com/albums/o...th_rc10033.jpg |
HI!... I started working on the TEAM car the last few days.
I have a buddy that owns a powder coating business, and I'm going to get him to redo the chassis black again. I have a sand blaster in my shop that I'm running fine glass bead through. I glass beaded the chassis, motor cage and front support. Before : http://i361.photobucket.com/albums/o...th_rc10059.jpg http://i361.photobucket.com/albums/o...th_rc10058.jpg http://i361.photobucket.com/albums/o...th_rc10060.jpg http://i361.photobucket.com/albums/o...th_rc10062.jpg |
|
HI!... I have all the original AE white plastic parts removed and ready for the whitening treatment.

HI!... Well I picked up too large glass jars with plastic lids from the dollar store tonight. Also grabbed some aluminum foil. Picked up a 26 watt UV light from a local pet store. Man for only 26 watts this thing is super bright.
Just currently soaking all the white plastic RC-10 parts in a container full of CLR kitchen/bathroom cleaner. I want to make sure the parts are super clean before I put them in the Peroxide. Probably going to soak them for 2-3 days. I'll post up pics when their done. |
HI!... Well I let the parts soak in CLR kitchen/bathroom cleaner for a few hours and then I scrubbed them clean with a fine scrub brush. This is how they turned out :
Off the car : http://i361.photobucket.com/albums/o...th_rc10067.jpg After cleaning with CLR : http://i361.photobucket.com/albums/o...th_rc10002.jpg Then I dropped them in 3% Hydrogen Peroxide under a 26 watt UV light with reflective aluminum foil. http://i361.photobucket.com/albums/o...th_rc10003.jpg |
HI!... Well it's been 3 days since I submerged the RC-10 white parts in Hydrogen Peroxide with a UV light shining on them. I removed the parts today and submerged them in some RIT whitening solution.
This is how they turned out : Before : http://i361.photobucket.com/albums/o...th_rc10067.jpg After washing with CLR K&B cleaner : http://i361.photobucket.com/albums/o...th_rc10002.jpg After 3 days in H/P and 30 minutes of RIT whitener : http://i361.photobucket.com/albums/o...th_rc10006.jpg |
HI!... Well I got a few EBAY parts in today. For this build and some others.
Original TEAM car chassis (B) stamp : The chassis is in good shape. No bends, cracks, no extra holes drilled. Quite a few light scratches on the bottom, but those will easily be sanded of and then I'll run it through my glass beader. http://i361.photobucket.com/albums/o..._rc10002-1.jpg http://i361.photobucket.com/albums/o..._rc10005-1.jpg http://i361.photobucket.com/albums/o...th_rc10009.jpg http://i361.photobucket.com/albums/o...th_rc10009.jpg Finally found some original NIP uni-dogbones for the TEAM car : http://i361.photobucket.com/albums/o..._rc10006-1.jpg Then got some RPM front/rear "A" arms : http://i361.photobucket.com/albums/o..._rc10007-1.jpg Also got the decal sheet from Doug : http://i361.photobucket.com/albums/o...th_rc10008.jpg |
HI!... Well I got the RC-10 "TEAM" car chassis back from my powder coater. Turned out very well. Only cost $17(CAN) It's high gloss black.
http://i361.photobucket.com/albums/o..._rc10001-3.jpg http://i361.photobucket.com/albums/o..._rc10002-2.jpg http://i361.photobucket.com/albums/o..._rc10003-1.jpg |
HI!... Well got the itch to start putting the "TEAM" car back together. This is as far as I have gotten tonight. The parts that are missing are currently getting the "Whitening" treatment, so it will be a few days before they get installed. I also have to go get some bearings for the inside of the Stealth trans.
http://i361.photobucket.com/albums/o..._rc10001-4.jpg http://i361.photobucket.com/albums/o..._rc10002-3.jpg http://i361.photobucket.com/albums/o..._rc10003-2.jpg http://i361.photobucket.com/albums/o..._rc10004-1.jpg http://i361.photobucket.com/albums/o..._rc10005-2.jpg |
HI!... Well ran out to the LHS and picked up some sealed bearings for the "TEAM" cars Stealth tranny. I got it put all back together and it runs very smooth. Here's a few updated pics :
http://i361.photobucket.com/albums/o..._rc10002-4.jpg http://i361.photobucket.com/albums/o..._rc10003-3.jpg http://i361.photobucket.com/albums/o..._rc10005-3.jpg http://i361.photobucket.com/albums/o..._rc10006-2.jpg |
HI!... Well did a bit more work to the "TEAM" car today. I just need to get a good set of nose tubes powder coated black and get the body. I really need to find a set of original rear tires for this thing. I have the original front tire/rims but need rear tires. I have the correct rims. You RC-10 experts, look over the car closely and tell me if anything is incorrect. Trying to get it as close to original as possible.
Thanks : Neal http://i361.photobucket.com/albums/o..._rc10007-2.jpg http://i361.photobucket.com/albums/o..._rc10005-4.jpg http://i361.photobucket.com/albums/o..._rc10004-3.jpg http://i361.photobucket.com/albums/o..._rc10003-4.jpg http://i361.photobucket.com/albums/o..._rc10002-5.jpg http://i361.photobucket.com/albums/o..._rc10001-5.jpg http://i361.photobucket.com/albums/o..._rc10006-3.jpg |
HI!... Well this is as far as I have gotten. I've added some vintage electronics, and battery to it. Still need two TQ-22 rear tires to complete the restoration. I've ordered a body. Should be here soon. The wheels whitened up really well. The fronts have a few scratches on them, but the rears look like new.
http://i361.photobucket.com/albums/o..._rc10001-6.jpg http://i361.photobucket.com/albums/o..._rc10002-6.jpg http://i361.photobucket.com/albums/o..._rc10004-4.jpg http://i361.photobucket.com/albums/o..._rc10003-5.jpg http://i361.photobucket.com/albums/o..._rc10007-3.jpg http://i361.photobucket.com/albums/o..._rc10008-1.jpg http://i361.photobucket.com/albums/o..._rc10009-1.jpg http://i361.photobucket.com/albums/o..._rc10010-1.jpg |
HI!... It's been awhile but got some more parts to install on the RC10 "TEAM" car. I scored a set of NIP Team Associated #6822 rear tires. I also installed a set of nose tubes. There not black. When I go to powder coat another chassis I'll get the nose tubes done. I have two other sets of NIP black nose tubes but for some reason there about a 1/2 inch short and have no threads in the very end. Weird. I have a body. I just need to trim and paint it and still need to buy a rear wing.
http://i361.photobucket.com/albums/o..._rc10058-2.jpg http://i361.photobucket.com/albums/o..._rc10059-2.jpg http://i361.photobucket.com/albums/o..._rc10060-2.jpg |
HI!... Well I was in a body cutting mood tonight. I cut out two "VIPER" and two "Protech" bodies. Just got to paint this one. Still need the proper wing for it???? (part #). Wish I could get the original decal kit for it...........
