Novak TC2 discharger
Uhmmm, does anyone else know if the Novak C2 or TC2 ESC's usually have this problem? Basically if you leave a battery plugged in (but car switched off) it slooooowly discharges it until its dead.
Not right good with my NiCads but I just went to charge the Trakpower Lipo that vicky uses and realised it was still in the car since last time she raced :( in other words it's dead - and if I try charge it, well, that would be dumb. My fault I guess, I should have remembered about this smelly Novak thing. :( Some of my cells seem to have touched in my box also, so at least three of my best packs are dead as well - I think that leaves 2, man, this is gonna be a fun weekend! |
I think most packs will discharge if left connected to something, like a speed controller or a battery charger that's not plugged in/powered. Of course NiMH packs slowly lose their capacity if left unplugged...
The shame is that it was a LiPo and not a NiMH/NiCd pack. At least you could then have tried to revive the battery! |
Matt White pointed out it was probably the big capacitor on the Novak! You're right though matt, I've revived NiMh cells in the past when I've left them hooked up - but there's no chance I'm going to risk reviving the LiPo :(
So vickys car was a bit slow at worksop the other day - still, it all worked out well in the end as she beat 4 people! yay. |
