Fancy a 4wd...

Hey guys, i started racing last week! and met quite a few of you at the last bury meeting, Mattb, Matt Laytham (Thanks for sorting my drive shaft!) bandit,
you were all really helpful.

Also i have been too Denton and leyland in the mean time. So lets just say i have been bitten by the bug!

So i'm thinking of getting myself a 4wd buggy. I have about £200 notes to spend. Ive seen the durango 410r which looks very nice, what other cars are worth considering? and as anyone got any for sale, if i do buy 2nd hand i would like to buy off someone i know has looked after the car.

I also have a few bits for sale/trade (for a 4wd)

- Schumacher Menace .21 (Highly Modified)
- 1/10 touring car ...Project... (full 4wd roller)

Any ideas would be appreciated!

I've got a Bmax I could sell. Its my spare car, but TBH I never use it - even when I popped my centre driveshaft last meeting I fixed the main car rather than use the spare. But despite the spare status its fully running and currently even has electrics.
There are several of us running Bmax's so there is plenty of support at the track, including whole cars worth of spares.
The car in question is essentially a Champ Pack version, but has Losi shocks.
I think I know of a couple of Lazers for sale as well. If you buy of someone from the club, its likely to be in reasonable nick.

Hi mate you were racing in my heat at leyland on friday I was the one with the 4wd doing 4sec quicker laps:woot: that car I was using was my spare car a basic lazer zx I think they are only 150quid rtr they are not a bad car but I think you my be better with a b44 they look a lot more solid lazers are quite fragile as I have found out a few times:blush:

Si Coe 06-03-2011 07:24 PM

The basic Lazer is quite fragile, but FS and FS2's less so.

If the Bmax interests you I'll probably be a Ribble next Friday so you can try it. I'm confident you won't break it because Bmax's are quite tough, and its got a mild motor in it, so you can test drive!

danDanEFC 06-03-2011 07:59 PM

If you have a B4 a B44 could be a good idea? Strong cars with a few similar/shared parts with your B4.

coleman758 06-03-2011 08:22 PM

Thanks for the replys guys!

Tisher... Haha good heats on Friday I really had a good night!

tisher 06-03-2011 08:34 PM

What spares? You've broken more than me and you race less often!

Unlike Johnny, my second car is and has always been intact and was never going to be stripped down for parts. But since I don't need it as a source of parts, and I'm not using it as a spare, I don't really need it.

Don't worry Johnny, the FT is not going anywhere - its just that now I've got that, having a champ pack is pointless. It either sits around as an unused spare, or gets stripped like yours, or gets sold to finance other stuff - like the LRP BX8e I was looking at earlier.......

Mark - Just get some big bores. Cheaper than a whole FT and Alistair Sharp's regular Bmax with big bores goes well.

minke 06-03-2011 09:51 PM

big bores are way too expensive, rather get myself an FT bmax and dismantle my spare.

To funny you team hopeless/b max turds all trying to push one of your chippy trays on the poor lad stop following your own agenda!!

If I had a b4 I would consider a b44.1 as these are imperial and a bmax is metric which means 2 lots of tools. Any recent 1/10 buggys are all very capable and it is down to personal choice. Just asking the question automatically qualifies you to join team hopeless/b-max turds I'd tell you to get a fs2 but I don't want you to get one I like the exclusivity of it. £350 stops most of the lesser men getting one!
See how many of the bmax turds bought their buggy new?? Non of them then ask yourself why??

Buds

Yes why indeed would a shrewd Rc enthusiast pay. 400 + for a car he can get fir 200 in mint condition
Remember when you sold your fs and were gutted cos you couldn't drive the fs2 and the bandit almost lapped you
Second hand is nothing to be ashamed of especially in Rc were the car will probly be set up right already and any worn parts are replaced easily
But yeah get a fs I am sick of all my spares getting raped off Bmax owners
Matt and buds carry huge amount of spares and will coach you

Or just get an antique they not bad cars (b44)
Or if you got to much money and a lot of time for messing and oils - dowrongo will do
Or just get a sc truck and join us in truck class for some real fun racing

Chris B 07-03-2011 01:03 PM

How you drive is more important than what car you drive. My 3 year old b44 does the trick as I'm still held back more by my own ape like reactions than any deficiencies in the car or handling. Any race level car will do as most are very simlar anyway, with just slight differences in weight distribution and parts durability.

You defo don't have to spend £350. Not straight away anyway.

coleman758 07-03-2011 01:43 PM

To be honest the Durango 410r is looking good at the moment,
they are £210 which is pretty much on budget, or i could go for a B44 FT for about the same money

minke 07-03-2011 01:45 PM

Out of those 2, get the durango
