Pinions, pitch and modules

What is the difference etc ?

Are 0.6, 0.8 module just a metric way of saying 32dp and 48dp...

What is dp?, can I use 48dp or 32dp pinion with a 0.8 module Spur?

These might have been answered elsewhere but I've been searching for a several mins now and can't find much info.

Am I over thinking this :)

Thanks

J

modules and pitch

hi

been racing for twenty odd years now you cant mix'match teeth pitch

IIRC .6 and .8 modulus are metric and 32,48 and 64 DP are old school imperial spec. DP i think refers to diameter pitch

tamiyas tend to be metric .6 also kyosho IIRC schumacher and the like are either 48 or 64 (finer pitch)

.6 is close to 48 dp but eventually eats either pinion or spur

dont take it as gospel i have known to be completly wrong :D

They are metric and imperial gauges...and they are different sizes...you can't mix and match metric and imperial gears.

Annoying, but just the way it is unfortunately.
