How to test my GP3700 cells

Hi,

Have some of the above, that have only been used a handful of time and sat in my batt box since.

Recently took them out again and noticed that on at least one of the battery bars there seems to be some blue/green crystalised stuff. Has the cell "vented" or leaked? What would you suggest?

Can I test the cell with a multimeter, if so what sort of readings should I expect?

If a cell is duff in my matched pack, can I replace with another 3700 cell that will obviously not match? I only plan to run a club level, so as long as they are reliable the'll be O.K for me.

And lastly, where can I still get GP3700 cells, both as single cells, and as packs?

Sounds like the copper battery bar has corroded!! I had this when I left some old cells out in the garage (in a plastic case mind) and the bar went all green and manky....

You might be able to replace the rotton bars with some better ones (I suggest some decent quality ones from Orion etc etc).

I would think the cells are okay, although you might want to clean the cell 'ends' before resoldering with the new bars.

Using a voltmeter to check cells, they either work or don't work, so set it to measure the cells voltage, then check each cell individually. They will either show 0v or 1.2v or similiar.

Thanks for that.

I shoudlhave explained, the battery bars are Orion Gold ones so I don't think they will have corroded, but I imagine they are only gold plated, so maybe it's possible?

Yeah...
try unsoldering one of the bars off, to see what the cell looks like underneath..

I've noticed these people have GP3700 singly:

(never used them so I don't know if they are any good)

Thanks guys. I'll check the voltage in the cells tonight.
