X2C rear shoch tower
 

A group of Portuguese guys, bought 4 X2C for racing in our local clubs.

I was the last to get one and have not yet tried it (tomorrow will be the D day).

They all have broken their rear tower, so I got may hands dirty and looked for a solution.

Ive got something similar in the pipeline... Can i suggest you round the edges off, they're more likely to dig in how they are at the moment :)

In france we are working on it too, but not like that.
Maby some CAO later

If someone can get me a 1to1 scan of this part (for mount holes) I'll happily draught one up for milling and share the files. I'll add a couple to my next run and make them available :)

The milling machine is currently down atm for upgrades but will be up and running again next week.

I race this prototype today and it did behave well.
A few crash's din't break it, nor cracked.

You're right tom3012, it need some work to become a more usable part, as the finishing is far from acceptable.

At list tow aspects are to be improved right away, the carbon board and de edges (incluind holes for wing posts)

I made the carbon board at home and tried for the first time kevlar, that showed to be much too hard to work (specially the finishing and hole drilling), the other aspect is that it was too thin so a used two of them glowed together, and became too thick.
I have to work on the mold to get a good board one first time. with the right thikness (about 5 mm, or maybe 4mm can hold on - any sugestions)

Concerning the shapping, if I use only carbon fiber, it will get much easier to cut, and with the prototype in my hand I can now correct the measurments including the post's hole (harder to preview).
Round edged will certainly give it a better look and prevent damaging other's cars.

Cool stuff, glad to hear your going to keep on developing it, 4mm carbon fibre would be plenty enough!

a litle more elegante and taller but with a hole to allow air to flow to the rear wing.

looks nice.

I raced this new design today and is far better then the previous one.

Not only looks batter (witch is always importante), but holds on better.
The other board as I explained before, was made from layers, and two boards glued together. After a few runs it became cracky and flexible, clearly about to break.

This one with only 3mm has some flexibilit, but is consistent.
During the race today, a had a few crash's ( far more than I wished), and some were very uggly.
It slided top down a couple of times and rolled lateraly a few times at the exit of the table jump.
Didn't break and I have not detected any crack.

I think its aproved.

Petty I could find no one yet in the neighborhood that can mill this shape from the board, but I'll keep looking.
Mean wile they will come out as handycraft stuff.:woot:

Now , shocks mount from the rear as the original ones.
The broken tower is no longer need, but a new part hed to be made to attach the transmission box.

You do like mine, and it's work very well.
I use and old (brake) to replace you Pvc part.
