recommend a charger?

im almost set.. all i need now is a battery charger! i dont have an awful lot of cash left now so im not looking for anything amazing. as long as it can charge faster than those over night 12hr things :D

Novak Millenium off ebay. An ace charger and about £30 - £35 normally.

showtime 17-11-2007 02:21 PM

take a look at this charger http://www.oople.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6339 ;)

mx0range 17-11-2007 05:31 PM

dont really want to be spending more than £45 really. just needs to charge 7.2v batts with tamiya style connections. GP3700's to be exact.

For that money I'd defo be looking at a quality 2nd hand charger. The LRP Pulsar 1 would be a great charger but difficult to get for theat price I think. The Novak is a good choice because it doesn't discharge or run com lathes etc (it only charges) it's seemed almost low spec these days hence cheap. It's also discontinued which helps the price.

Please don't buy a cheap non adjustable jobbie. Like those ultra budget pro peak ones for example :(

mx0range 17-11-2007 06:31 PM

give me some credit :D i dont want ultra cheap non adjustable rubbish and i realise im best with going 2nd hand. i just dont know what. its been 8yrs since i last used electric so im starting all over again (and realising just how expensive it is when your parents arent paying for it lol)

a 2nd hand Nosram Sirius would be a good buy. They are great chargers.

They can charge up to 7A, with adjustable delta peak.

super__dan 17-11-2007 08:32 PM

Oh yeah, they are the same as a pulsar sport aren't they? Just the charge functions of a pulsar, not the rest of it?

Non-lipo versions of the Orion Advantage seem to be selling for around that sort of money on ebay. Not used one myself, but they seem to have all the features anyone would need (except of course lipo charging!).

super__dan 18-11-2007 09:31 AM

I have one of those too (I have a Millenium, Pulsar 1 and Advantage), though all are very good, for pure ease of use I prefer the Novak and LRP, though I am perhaps nit picking here. With the Orion you would have the discharge capability as well which is usefull, especially if you've read the current BRCA advice about caring for cells.

But with most of these chargers you are also going to need a 12v supply (if you dont already have one) which can cost between £20-£35 aswell.

Never used one but the ansmann Deluxe looks great, same as the ProPeak Sigma but different casing and very cheap (like £33 new if you shop around).
