OS engines
I'm told by good source that OS engines are a good bet, relyable with a good life span,
http://www.keimod.com/Images/ebay/OS13890.jpg On a performace scale of 1 to 5 what will this be? |
OS been at it a long time, so if they can't make a good engine... we are screwed lol.
how many ports is that one? |
the V-spec in that pic is a 3 port engine
don't let the low port count put you off as these are a very good engine, very linear power delivery & will keep pulling to a good high topend ;) very good on fuel too, these will do the magic 10 minutes on a tank! there is 1 problem with them tho, the rear bearing they come with aint good so either fit a ceramic or a Picco rear bearing & you're good to go ;) as for lifespan - variable - is probably the best word :eh?: |
I'm getting a better vibe from this than I've got from the GO engines.
|
out of the 2 the OS is DEFINITELY the stronger performer ;)
available from around £115 plus post from HK |
Yeah - I see.
I'm going to visit my LHS tomorrow, not to buy, just to see what goes down. It'll be interesting to see what they want to sell me. |
just to throw a spanner in the works a Sirio was probably the best engine i used this year plus you can't really go wrong with an RB!
if you get offered an S7II for sensible money that would be a good choice ;) |
IF you go with the Vspec make sure to get a late 2007 model, they come with different bearings which are ment to be better. Also dont do the "Heat Cycle" run-in method, this will put strain on the bearings, this was a big problems with the older vspecs. You need to do the 3 tank static 3 at 1/4 throtle etc...

Local shop was shut today, shut on a saturday, what's that about :o. They must not be bothered about selling stuff.
Hong-Kong never shuts on Ebay. |
probably out for a few pints of gravy :D

OS engines, V-spec, Speed or recab = THE best engine for any electric racer starting in nitro
why smooth power band that pulls all the way though the throttle range easy to tune - no other engine can be set at pre determined carb settings like the OS can. great run time. freak cuts are very rare. easy to run in - i.e on a box to a set routine. proven winner - 2006 world champ, winner of uk national 2004, runner up of uk national in 2005, 2006, 2007. winner of uk 2007 truggy nationals. down side (cos there must be some) standard v-spec crank will wear out after 7-10 hours (good news is speed and recab cure this to the point the crank never wears out) standard v-spec bearings can be suspect and will last 10 hours or so (again good news is speed and recab cure this by having a ceramic bearing) after sales service is sh#t as ripmax are not involved in racing, but ask me and i will gladly tune your motor at the track. recommendations use byron fuel - easy to tune, good for bearings and engine life, available at most shops that deal with cml use a hong nor 2047 pipe, cheep inline pipe. use after run oil after every race/time you use it. use OS P3 plugs only speed a bit more money and buy a speed with Aluminium head or recab (cost 230-250, save you money in long run and give you happier racing) dont run in the muddy crap and if you do use a water proof air filter in the wet. |
