BBC1 HD - and F1???

Guys, I'd love to get BBC1 on cable her in Norway, but it's not possible :(

BUT! I can now actually get BBC1 HD on cable. The question is therefore: Will they broadcast F1 also on the HD channel?

(tried to google for this info, but didn't find any info confirming it)

I think if I remember correctly in an interview last year Bernie confirmed F1 in HD for 2011, I hope its going to happen :)

EDIT http://www.f1fanatic.co.uk/2011/01/1...go-hd-in-2011/

Yep, F1 is in HD this year, 720p though

SHY 16-02-2011 10:17 AM

Does that mean that it's 100% confirmed that BBC1 HD will broadcast F1 as well as the std. BBC1 channel?

all broadcast HD is 720p. Its only digital media etc that can handle 1080p broadcasters cant cope with the bandwidth.

My cable box (HD) can max deliver 1080i, not p. Sounds like it'd be wiser to set it to 720p then?

I wonder why you can get BBC1 HD but not BBC1. I don't know if the same would apply but I remember trying to listen to BBC Radio 5 Live's coverage of F1 outside of the UK and while the station was accessible normally, transmission was stopped for the F1 coverage :(.

That was an issue for me last year, now I've gone for paying £5 a month for a high speed VPN connection in the UK. Now Iplayer and the other channels think I'm in the UK and can watch it all. It's fast enough to stream HD too.

Hmmmm... I really hope it works out, but I've had this thought myself...

It's only called "BBC HD" (not 1). But it seems to have more or less the same programs as the BBC 1. Which we cannot get in Norway on cable...

I'll at least give it a try and subscribe to it, and see it F1 is shown... worst case Ich muss wieder F1 mit die Deutschen and RTL sehen :D Jawohl...

BBC HD is a different channel to BBC 1 HD. BBC HD arrived first and showed HD versions of some BBC1 programs, now BBC 1 HD has arrived BBC HD has become more of a catchup channel. No idea whether it will show any F1 coverage.

Yup... this is what I'm fearing... :( The cable supplier don't know. So just have to order it and see if it shows up on the program guide...

As F1 will be broadcast on BBC 1, you will need BBC 1 HD. BBC HD is a different channel. Maybe you could get a U.K free sat HD box (around £100) and aim the satellite dish at the correct Astra satellite, which transmits both free sat and U.K sky signals.

OK, that kills all hope then...

Good tip, but I cannot mount a dish where I live.

@Bagman: Could you tell in detail hos you do this?

If I get the iPlayer to work, can I then stream that from my PC to my TV?

Do they show all the F1 broadcast on the BBC web? (qualifying, race, pre, post interviews?) Live?
